Experience
March 2009-October 2009 Shadow Support Specialist (Remedial Therapist Assistant)for
L ive and Learn in Singapore. I worked in the classroom with special needs kids to help
t hem integrate into the classroom setting. I wanted to continue to work with special needs
children even though I could not be a nurse in Singapore. I continued to work with Autism,
A DHD, Tur rets’, and many other learning disabilities.
J un 2007-May 2008 Regional Security Officer Security Escort for the US Embassy in
Zambia, Africa. I was unable to work as a nurse in Zambia, but I volunteered at the blood
d rives for the school and to be a nurse at the health stations for the Tr iathlon and field day
a t the In ternational American School of Lusaka, Zambia. I also received a secret security
clearance from the Federal Government in order to work in the Embassy.
A ug 2000-Dec 2006 PRN nursing coverage for Onslow County Health Services of North
Carolina: Provided PRN nursing coverage to the 9 clinics that are managed by the hospital.
I worked in Oncology, acute clinic, VA clinic, In ternal Medicine, Dermatology, as well as
many additional doctors’ offices. My job included skills such as assisting MD’s with minor
surgeries, t raumas, broken bones, suture removal, cast placement, taking vital signs, Etc.
Aug 2000-Dec 2006 Private Duty Nurse for Pediatr ic Services of America in Jacksonville,
N C. Performed private duty nursing for special needs children. The ages ranged from 3
months-10 years. Some of my cases included microcephaly, congenital anomalies, seizure
d isorders, blindness, autism, etc. Most of the children that I cared for had t racheotomies,
gastrostomy tubes, and required oxygen. I accompanied the patients to occupational and
physical therapy so that I was able to implement their therapies in my home care.
Oct 1999-Jun2000 Clinical Pediat ric Nurse for Fairview Pediatrics in Chicopee,
M assachusetts. This was a busy office with four Pediatricians. My job included
answering t r iage calls, preparing patient rooms, preparing patients for the doctors, giving
nebulizer t reatments and immunizations.
Sept 1998-Jun 2000 Floor Nurse and Head Nurse on night shift for Northampton Nursing
Home in Northampton, Massachusetts: worked in the geriat rics and the pediatric vent
u nit with patients suffering from multiple medical concerns. My skills included g-tube,
ventilator, and t racheostomy care for pediat ric and/or geriatr ic patients.
Dec 1995-Aug 1995 Certified Nursing Assistant at Pitt Memorial Hospital in
t heEmergency Department in Greenville, NC: observed and worded under a licensed RN
for Certified Nursing Assistant license.
Special In terests
I enjoy pediat ric and geriat ric clients. I enjoyed the Emergency Department as
m uch as the nursing home. I love nursing and have a passion for my clients. I learn
quickly and adapt to most situations easily. Knowing at the end of the day that I have
helped someone else have a better day or feel just a li t tle bit better is my passion. I have
done 47 nursing CEUs to update my license on a variety of topics including: Maternal
Newborn Health, Avian f lu, hemodynamic monitoring, In f luenza, H1N1, etc.
