Product and User Interface Design Intern

3 months

Designing and writing algorithms and testing new problem cases for various

mathematics course ware. Designing and modifying ergonomically plausible

and user friendly interfaces.

Clemson University:

Research Assistant, Advanced computational Laboratory

1 year 6 months

Developed physical and virtual prototypes of the mechanisms for energy

harvesting through oscillating reed valves and FEA models for nano

composites using COMSOL.

Graduate Assistant, CAD / CAE Laboratory

1 year 6 months

Taught undergraduate students Pro-E and various modules like part modeling,

surface modeling, assembly and drafting. Teaching assistant for Finite

element analysis and Mechanics of materials courses.

Engineers CAD Pvt Ltd:

CAD/CAE Engineer intern

6 months

Involved in the design and development of industrial products, automotive

parts and Medical Equipment and also made improvements to the existing

designs. Prepared Assembly, Detailed component drawings, bill of materials

and technical reports. Performed Structural, Modal and Thermal Analysis

of components. Applied Design for Assembly & Manufacturing (DFA-DFM), FMEA

(Failure Mode & Effects Analysis) techniques

Software Used: Solid Works, Pro-E, ANSYS

6 months

Involved in Demand forecasting, Inventory replenishing and rate management

of materials for various projects.

Documented various tests performed on manufactured product, interpreted

drawings and other documents.

Involved in Statistical process control and prepared control charts.

PROJECTS

Efficient thermal conductivity modeling of Si/Ge nano-composite

materials(NEMS)

Developed an efficient FE model to determine the effective phonon thermal

conductivity of Si/Ge nano composites by taking into account the various

phenomena that occur in the nano regime. Achieved a 40% reduction in

computational time when compared to other methods like Monte Carlo

Simulation.

Software Used: ANSYS, COMSOL

Sustainable personal transportation system in developing countries

In this design project a low cost fuel efficient hybrid vehicle that can

carry 2 persons is modeled. It was accomplished by following all aspects of

product design process; starting from the customer requirements, market

research, concept generation, sketching, QFD, FMEA, material and cost

analysis.

Software Used: ANSYS, Pro-E

Energy harvesting using piezo electric reed valves

Developed physical and virtual prototypes of piezo electric reed valves and

tested their vibration characteristics against flow of air at threshold

blowing pressures. The effects of valve dimensions, shapes on the

vibration amplitudes are studied.

Vibration analysis of a Aeroplane Wing

In this project an an aeroplane wing of uniform length with aerofoil cross

section is modeled where one end is fixed in all degrees of freedom. A

modal analysis is carried out to find the natural frequencies of vibration

and also studied the mode shapes.

Software Used: Solid Works, ANSYS

Redesign of Headlight Housing of a BMW X3

This project was done based on the principles of DFM, DFA; minimized the

total relative part cost from 9.60 to 8.12 by analyzing the factors such as

material, tooling and processing costs, cycle time, and also considering

other mold complexity factors.

SKILLS

Modeling Software: AutoCAD, Solid Works, Solid Edge, CATIA

Analysis Software: ANSYS, ABAQUS, Comsol Multiphysics

Programming Skills: MATLAB, C, Maple, SAS

Languages :English, Basic German, Basic French
