Army Community Service (06/03/2009 – 8/20/2010) - Survivor Outreach Service Support Coordinator

Duties: Served as a Support Coordinator for the Survivor Outreach Services (SOS) Program under the

supervision of the Army Community Services (ACS) Director. Responsible for linking all phases of the SOS

Program. Serves as a subject matter expert on survivor support issues and services. Conducted briefings to the

community with a focus of increasing community knowledge of SOS services. Briefed leadership and

community on issues impacting survivors. Made referrals as needed to agencies and support activities for

appropriate assistance. Conducted follow-up with Survivors to ensure their needs are being met. Coordinated

with the ACS Director, Casualty Assistance Center Benefits Specialist and Financial Counselors to review

Duties: Planned and executed Memorial affairs operations in support of Casualty Affairs and Mortuary

Affairs Programs. Arranged and provided personnel for all Army military funeral honors. Responsible for

tasking Active Component and Reserve Component units and arranging for their orders, to provide Military

Funeral Honors to active duty, retired, and all Army veterans. Prepares invitational travel orders to bring

Survivors to the funeral when appropriate. Exercises considerable compassion, patience and tact in dealing

with civilians. Provides Quality Assurance of all funeral honor teams. Assisted the Mortuary Affairs Officer

with the care and disposition of remains and personal effects for active duty military. Inspected remains after

embalming and before dressing to ensure the quality of restorative/preparation services and to determine if

**From 07/2008-04/2009- While in this position I was tasked to serve as the advisor to MOS/Medical

Retention Boards members and Soldiers. Briefs Soldiers on possible recommendations of the board. I

covered down while the hiring process was going on and trained the new MMRB employee. Counseled

Soldiers and Family Members on MMRB proceedings and what to expect with possible outcomes.

Worked closely with the Medical Evaluation Boards on a regular basis as well as WTB and Physicians

at BACH. I provided insight to physicians and Soldiers on case files. I reviewed medical records and
