Aircraft Engine Technician / Mechanic, 8602
Performs functional checks, inspects and preventive maintenance on C-130
aircraft and APU's. Able to troubleshoot, and perform unscheduled
maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft. Performs major adjustments
and alignments of aircraft systems and components. Inspects for conditions
such as oil, fuel, hydraulic leaks, loose fittings and panels, which would
render an aircraft unsafe for flight. Competent in providing aircraft data
for maintenance and historical records and data collection, man-hour
accounting, AFTO and AF forms, aircraft 781 series including GO81, the SSBS
and other computer programs necessary to update records. Qualified to
instruct, direct and assign maintenance repair tasks to drill status
guardsman and observe work to ensure compliance to AF standards, procedures
and applicable technical data directives & publications. Adheres to safety,
fire, security and housekeeping regulations when setting up work areas. Can
prepare for and participate in all types of readiness evaluations such as
ORI, IG, and UE inspections, mobility and command support exercises.
Advises on problems concerning aircraft engines and propellers. Diagnoses
malfunctions using schematic diagrams and Fault Isolation (FI) technical
manuals and interprets trouble reports and instrument readings effectively.
Inspects, removes, repairs, installs, builds-up, maintains, troubleshoots,
tests, and modifies aircraft propeller & engine electrical, mechanical,
hydraulic, pneumatic and control rigging systems in extreme environmental
conditions in the field and in-shop. Assembles propellers and engines
according to specifications drawn out in Technical Orders. Anticipates
tools, tech data, parts, materials and equipment required or repairs.
Removes & installs QEC (quick engine change) kits. Performs test-stand
functions. Adjusts, aligns, and calibrates engines to achieve maximum
efficiency. Uses special test equipment and tools to analyze propeller and
engine problems including Fuel Nozzle & Thermocouple testing, Vibration
Analyzer and Prop Balance Equipment. Knowledgeable in the "Look & Fix"
phase of Major and Minor Isochronal Inspections, Pre & Post Dock repairs
and HSC's (home station check) using work cards.

PMEL Monitor - Created tracking System to monitor all equipment requiring
calibration for the Engine Shop.
Bench Stock Monitor - Maintained parts supply for the Engine Shop.
Safety NCOIC - Responsible for Engine Shop safety. Create and instruct
