responsibility was to lead incorporation of sustainability into core

responsibility from 1998 through 2005, helped design and implement all

. Developed and implemented a system to validate environmental product

claims for the "Nike Considered" line of footwear, resulting in

"greener-product" claims.

Supply Chain Sustainability Program Development.

. Engaged in business discussions with manufacturing partners and key

suppliers to create communication systems and feedback loops to connect

the waste and energy impacts of production back to their causes in

product design and material selection.

. Worked with Nike Footwear Costing to redesign the cost breakdown sheet

and costing system to better measure and communicate "unit cost" of

waste and energy.

. Co-developed footwear's toxics reduction strategy for raw materials and

products.

. Managed initial green chemistry work between Nike and McDonough

Braungart Design Chemistry, which eventually resulted in Nike

Footwear's Green Rubber Formula. More than 90% of toxics (by number and

weight) were removed from the formula - which is less costly to

produce; 80% of Nike outsoles now use this formula.

. Developed the strategy and implementation plan for Nike's "Restricted

Substance List", the first part of a larger green chemistry program.

. Part of the team that develop a "closed loop" material recycling

strategy; taking waste materials and putting them back into raw

materials in a "cost-saving" system.

toxics in their raw materials and production processes.
