1976 to May 2010: CDI Marine Company, Jacksonville, Fl
I have held various positions of responsibility including UNIX system
administration, network engineer, and DBA. I served as the Senior Network
Engineer and Database Administrator. I was responsible for a 600 user WAN
and maintained 30 Windows servers. I served as DBA for the company's 50
million dollar per year accounting database. Responsibilities included
such things as disaster recovery, network operations, client server
engineering, security, and database management. I served as assistant
security officer and held a secrete clearance. Job was terminated due to
work being relocated to offices in other cities. Timeframe of relevant IT
duties were as follows:
1980 to 1990 I was system admin for a 12 seat Unix based Computer Vision
main frame for developing engineering 3-D drawings.
1990 to 2010 I was the CAD admin for Autodesk products used in the
development of engineering drawings. I installed, configured, and developed
office standards for AutoCAD version 1 to version 2011.
1990 to 1996 I installed and maintained the first Novell LAN for the
company and installed its first computerized accounting system from Deltek
which was its System 1 software. I also moved the 30 stand alone CAD
stations to this LAN.
1997 to 1998 I installed networks in 10 other office locations using NT4.0
and connected them through frame relay to create our first WAN. I did
everything from wiring to switch and router installations. Microsoft
Exchange was added during this time for company e-mail. This enabled us to
work remotely for customers in different cities creating one big virtual
office.
1997 to 2010 I migrated our Deltek System 1 accounting software to Deltek
Costpoint 2 and continued migrations up through Version 6 about every 2
years. Costpoint rides on an Oracle database and theses versions went from
7.1 to 10G overtime. I served as DBA for this database. During this
timeframe we migrated to Active Directory, Windows Server 2008 and Windows
7. During the last year we had also starting moving towards using VMware
Server for many duties in ordered to consolidate equipment. During this
timeframe I served as the senior network engineer for our business unit and
also managed the Nortel phone systems. Merger with the parent company had
been occurring over the last 5 years and most IT equipment and work was
relocated to Philadelphia and the company began using Citrix.
