EXPERIENCE
EBERSPACHER AG Brighton, MI
2007 - 2010
Manufacturing Engineer time studied operations to determine bottlenecks and
raise productivity. Conducted a capacity planning study for the Brighton
catalytic converter plant to determine how the plant could be expanded.
Set work standards by operation. Improved machine cycle times by removing
time from non-critical non-cutting machine motion.
DAIMLERCHRYSLER AG WARREN TRUCK ASSEMBLY Warren, MI
2000 - 2005
Industrial Engineer rebalanced assembly and machining operations on vehicle
chassis and engine/transmission build up to improve efficiency. Worked
with new product launch teams to develop build plans for Ram 1500 and
Dakota model light trucks. Rearranged work stations to reduce non-value
added motion and walk time. Particular attention was given to placement,
location and performance of tooling. Developed and altered tooling on the
assembly line. Replaced pneumatic torque tools with electric tooling to
better control torque specs.
CMI INTERNATIONAL Southfield, MI
1998 - 1999
Process Engineer was responsible for keeping steering knuckle machining
lines running at full capacity. Purchased machine station components and
tooling to optimize productivity and product quality. Adjusted machine
station feed rates and speeds to improve throughput and reduce costs.
Organized special tooling setups for prototype product runs. CMI is now
part of Hayes-Lemmerz.
AMERICAN AXLE & MANUFACTURING. Detroit, MI
1994 - 1997
Manufacturing Engineer conducted capacity planning studies for new axle
product lines. Tracked and improved machine cycles to increase output and
reduce overtime while improving product quality. Lead engineer on a
project to completely rearrange all equipment in a 140,000 sq. ft. area in
the plant. Time studied and improved robot motions while working with
controls engineers & electricians. Evaluated employee suggestions as a
member of the plant's suggestion committee.
GENERAL MOTORS DETROIT GEAR & AXLE Detroit, MI
1979 - 1994
Manufacturing Engineer completed a wide variety of assignments, finding and
implementing methods improvements, proposing and overseeing plant layout
changes, and opening manufacturing constraints. Rearranged work areas,
completed cost estimating and capital justification studies, strove for
continuous improvement in operations and workplace organization.
Supervised several skilled trades groups in different plants and shifts.
Oversaw machine repair, hydraulic, toolmaker, electrician, millwright,
pipefitter, welder & sheet metal activity. Maintained, transfer machines,
CNC machines, presses, lathes, arc welders, broaches, induction hardeners,
grinders, industrial robots and a wide variety of conveyor systems as a
Skilled Trades supervisor.
