*Space Utilization Models for Herman Miller, Inc

Through a series of floor plans, I developed a strategy resulting in space utilization techniques for

office environments. The work was applied as a consultative selling tool for Field Sales personnel.

*Exploratory Office of the Future concepts for Herman Miller, Inc

In response to HMI Workplace Strategist Group request, I provided a written summary of my thoughts

pertaining to the Office of the Future for perspective client: Citi Group. HMI was seeking a fresh

perspective outside of their organization for a synopsis to share back to Citi Group including standard

and non standard furniture product solutions, architectural solutions, cultural and technological

incorporation as to what the future may hold for the office environment.

*Component research for independent furniture company

Sourced potential overseas suppliers for hardware applications including analysis of product

availability, costs and implementation.

Healthcare Specialist

To establish presence in the West MI region with newly formed division of healthcare in the

A& D market as well as seek future clientele.

Profiled accomplishments:

*Formulated healthcare vendor/product portfolio for WMOI

Identified core group of multi tiered priced vendors for various healthcare applications including

furniture, technology based furniture and modular casegoods.

*A&D relationship development

WMOI was virtually unknown in West MI A&D market. I initiated and cultivated relationships through

communication with cold calling, appointments, multiple Lunch & Learn sessions (with top firms) and

email blasts. For email blasts, I self generated content to contain published industry trends and

featured various applications (thought starters) related to the products I represented.

*Non traditional contact development in furniture industry

Established unique sales protocol by cold calling engineers, contractors and solicited networking

opportunities in community related events and group organizations. This resulted in initial steps of

formulating a non contract partnership with an engineering firm.

Research Development Designer

Developed variety of product applications suggestive of future educational markets.

Through the use of CBT product portfolio, identified new classroom planning models to support

flexibility in the usage of furniture, architectural space and technology. Additional projects (product

*Whitepaper

Written synopsis of technology integration depicting the characteristics of a 21st century classroom

model. Includes research in various styles of learning which identifies need for change in how

designers select furniture and plan spaces.

Provided color and material selection (furniture) for the renovation of HMI’s Toronto Design Center.

client: Tracker Marine.

*Conceptual Planning

Selected by HMI Marketing team to create a variety of futuristic work environments with HMI and non

HMI products. The intended result was a book which was administered to the field sales personnel

as a tool for consultative selling.

Primary applications designer for New Product Development Team and assistance to Client Services.

*Resolve Launch

Predominate designer with pre & post product launch, assisted in finalization of SOL (Statement of

Line), Beta testing, development of applications for marketing brochure, A&D launch party for Los

Angles, NeoCon 2000 product application (90% of space was devoted to Resolve) and NeoCon 2001

product application.

*New Office Landscape (exploration of products for commercialization)

Implementation of new product concepts into HMI facility, development of 2D futuristic work

environments (floor plans) for internal evaluation, product testing with HMI personal and web based

research on evolving trends for future home and work based environments.

*Corporate client support

Most notably profiled was a 10K win for the Sara Lee account. I created a product solution (floor plan)

which was revolutionary for Sara Lee’s NYC office.

*Color & Material Exploration

Assembled a collection of pictorials (for creation of mood boards) representative of futuristic color

direction development of My Office. Exercise influenced initial color selection for Statement of Line.

Facility Designer

Corporate office reconfigurations, pre launch space for Pathways and one of three internal designers chosen to

integrate within the Steelcase Research Group to explore new methodologies in planning work spaces.

Advanced Applications Designer

Primary design support for Sales & Marketing in the development of product launches (Relay & Liaison),

marketing materials, tradeshows and conceptual product applications.
