AS in Network Security
Project Highlights:
Technology
• In collaboration with two others, I assisted in the design, set up, and implementation of
AS in Computer
a small Active Directory domain consisting of two Server 2003 machines, one XP, one
Networking Systems
Ubuntu, and a Smoothwall firewall server. Engaged in professional dialogue with a
network engineer from Likewise to successfully resolve problems preventing the
Texas State University
Ubuntu system from joining the domain. In addition, our team wrote a comprehensive
San Marcos, TX
security policy for this domain and hardened it against outside attacks by following
BS in Exercise and
best practices as outlined in our policy.
Sport Science
• As part of a six member team, I worked on creating a comprehensive bid to design
and build a network from scratch for a small elementary school. Specific areas of
responsibility our team managed included: network design (including type, topology,
and placement of network specific elements such as cabling, routers and switches);
price analysis and comparison; using NAT addressing and border firewalls to protect
internal elements; implementation of security best practices to guard network; and
creating a visual presentation in order to “sell” our bid.
Designed, built and provided ongoing maintenance for a small LAN for two years while
•
attending TSTC. To provide wireless access for up to 5 users at a time, I used a
wireless access point with a secure WPA2 setup.
Led a project management team in the investigation and documentation of Office
•
Tracker scheduling software for consideration by the college.
