Steel component manufacturer for aerospace and commercial applications
Department Supervisor
Managed and directed three departments, day and swing shifts, in a steel
castings facility (NDT, finishing & heat straightening) to meet production
scheduling requirements, while maintaining a safe work place and satisfying
customer needs.
Restructured staffing to maximize swing shift equipment resulting in 20%
increase in product throughput.
Oversaw installation of major plant equipment allowing re-structure of
labor and saving 12% on labor cost.
Increased productivity 5% each quarter in wax injection and assembly for
year 2009 by implementating Performance Review System, which focused on
incentives for reaching productivity goals.
Conducted weekly product release schedules with plant management that
resulted in capacity gain allowing our front end to reduce late releases.
Improved on time release by 30 jobs per week.
Directed Lean Manufacturing activities: 5S, Process Flow, Kanban, and
Theory of Constraint Management. Reduced labor cost 10% utilizing Lean
Methodology.
Planned labor of 34 employees in unique areas of injection, assembly,
technique development, radiography, and grinding/finishing. Improved work
procedures in injection by reducing setup time by 12 hours a week.
Developed assembly techniques on high running jobs, reducing setup time by

Forecasted productivity improvement and strategies as well as developed

automation equipment for more manual operations that benefited department
in less safety issues and increased productivity 5% for year 2009. Cut

direction, Guardian Reedley set plant record for days without loss time
