Summer Intern. June 2010 - August 2010

Performed various administrative and dental assistant tasks for 12-15 hours/week. Administrative

work included screening patients and analyzing survey data (50 hours). Dental assistant tasks

included chair-side assisting dentists, primarily an oral surgeon, during procedures and cleaning

instruments (100 hours).

Volunteer. August 2010 - Current

Continued to perform various dental assisting tasks for a variety of dentists on a weekly basis.

UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT June 2010 - Current

Undergraduate Researcher. Created educational presentations and webpages on analytical

UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA BIOLOGY DEPARTMENT January 2011 - Current

Peer Teacher. Undergraduate teaching assistant for Introduction to Biology Lab II. Tasks

included assisting students during lab sections, performing dissection demonstrations, and

assisting Graduate Teaching Assistant with grading and other administrative tasks.

UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA MEDICAL CENTER. August 2008 - June 2010

Undergraduate Research Assistant. Assisted in a nerve regeneration study under Dr. Roy C. Ogle

(August 2008-May 2009). Tasks conducting spinal cord dissections of neonatal mice, fluorescent

microscopy, and cell culture. Assisted in an ALS study under Dr. JP Bennett (June 2009-May

2010). Tasks included mice brain dissection, laser capture microdissection, and PCR analysis.

UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA MEDICAL CENTER. September 2007 - May 2008

Volunteer. Worked in the Cardio Transition Unit stocking supplies and conducting paper work.

High contact with both patients and families (100).

PEER HEALTH EDUCATORS August 2009 –

Current

Educate student body on health topics affecting the college demographic (safe sex, substance

consumption, nutrition, stress management, etc.) in awareness outreach programs for groups and

in weekly confidential one-on-one patient education sessions.

UNIVERSITY HONOR SYSTEM

Honor Committee Representative (College of Arts and Sciences) April 2010 - Current

One of five representatives for the undergraduate College of Arts and Sciences. Responsibilities

include chairing Honor Trials, attending multiple weekly procedural meetings, and interacting

with faculty members.

Honor Senior Adviser. August 2009 – April 2010

Trained new advisers (~ 40) through weekly training session with quizzes. Advised more complex

cases and kept attendance for spring semester.

Honor Adviser. August 2007 – August 2009

Confidentially advised university students by providing them with detailed procedural information

and emotional support to help maintain their legal rights and fairness of Honor proceedings.

JEFFERSON LITERARY AND DEBATING SOCIETY

Regular Member January 2008 - Current

Attended weekly meetings and participated in numerous presentations and debates.

Public Service Committee Member January 2009-December 2010

Helped organize public service projects for membership including several blood drives and a used

clothing drive for Right Aid collecting over 125 items of clothing to donate. Currently creating an

outreach event at the Charlottesville Free Dental Clinic.

Appropriation’s Committee Member August 2008 - December 2008

Managed the Society’s over $250,000 financial assets and presented audit to membership at large.
