Hearing and Speech Center of Northern California, San Francisco, CA August 10-May 11
Supervised intern/trainee
Provided psychodynamic/humanistic individual and family therapy for clients coping with adjusting to and
identity surrounding hearing loss. Provided psychodynamic/humanistic individual therapy to family members
of persons with hearing loss. Case load ranged from 4- 6 clients. Collaborated with school and medical providers
for appropriate accommodations and placement settings for achievement for children with hearing loss and/or
Deafness. Attended IEP meetings for clients to support appropriate accommodations and individual academic
success. Co-facilitated a task group for youth diagnosed with hearing loss to facilitate social support. Average
group size was 5 clients. Received 1hour per week of individual supervision.
Bay Area Addiction Research and Treatment, San Francisco, CA August 09-July 10
Supervised intern/trainee
Provided treatment for diverse clients including low-income, homeless, and minority populations diagnosed with
opioid dependency at a methadone clinic. Provided individual psychodynamically-oriented psychotherapy on a
weekly basis. Case load ranged from 8-10 clients as well as co-lead/facilitated an art therapy group with a fellow
intern. Average group size was 4 clients. Also provided clients with case management, assessment, and
recommendation for SSI and consulted with medical providers on clients’progress. Therapeutic issues included:
mood disorders, Axis II spectrum, polysubstance abuse, dual-diagnosis, schizophrenia, history of intensive,
repetitive trauma, Hepatitis C and HIV+ management, homelessness as well as homicidality and suicidality.
Attended 3-4 didactic trainings per week covering topics including: chronic pain, PTSD, working
with grief and trauma, psychodynamic case conceptualization, art therapy with clients with trauma and
motivational interviewing. Received 1 hour per week of individual supervision and 2 hours per week of group
supervision.
