Objective:
Pursuing an Environmental Engineering position as an air quality staff
engineer at Environmental Resources Management. My previous experience
with air quality sampling and analysis will help me quickly assimilate as
an air quality engineer for Environmental Resources Management.
Education:
B.S. in Environmental Engineering, received June 2011
University of California Riverside (UCR), Riverside, CA
Senior Project:
Brine water volume reduction by means of an artificial halophytic wetland
(project available upon request).
. Designed an artificial wetland to evaporate brine water in an
efficient and environmentally friendly manner.
. Brine water volume reduction is a novel solution to a common problem
facing many reverse osmosis facilities that discharge brine into the
Santa Ana Regional Interceptor (SARI) Line. This is due to an
increased demand for clean water, which produces more brine requiring
discharge. However, each company has a finite allowable discharge
volume.
. Produced a hypothetical business plan showing that our method reduces
costs when compared to an evaporation pond, while simultaneously
reducing brine volume more efficiently.
Professional Experience:
College of Engineering Center for Environmental Research and Technology (CE-
CERT)
Riverside, California from February 2010 to July 2011.
CE-CERT is an academic research institute that helps establish a scientific
basis for engineering improvements and regulatory actions on pending
legislation related to air quality.
Student Researcher for the Analytical laboratory under Kathy Cocker
. Responsible for minor maintenance as well as calibrating,
preparing, and running the following: Gas Chromatography with a
flame ionization detector, Dionix ion chromatography, and
elemental-organic carbon analyzers.
. Eluted samples from dinitrophenylhydrazine (DNPH) and Teflon
filters used in sampling of air quality and emissions from many
sources.
. Investigated the source of high organic carbon levels in
container ship exhaust by analyzing data from quartz filters,
and deduced that the cause was from an unexpected source.
United Studios Of Self Defense
San Clemente, California from September 2000 to August 2006.
Karate Instructor
. Responsibilities included teaching students of all ages, while
helping maintain a clean and safe teaching environment.
. This job was very beneficial in stressing the importance of
punctuality, as well as personal relations, and communication
with students and parents.
Emerald Bay Beach Camp
Laguna Beach, California from July 2006 to September 2009 (Summers only).
Beach Camp Councilor
. Responsibilities included managing and entertaining children
while maintaining safety.
