Kansas City, MO
Position: Drug Information Fellow
Duties: As a fellow my duties are quite varied. Each month I am the
primary preceptor for a student on rotation. I am their primary contact
for their longitudinal project as well as the person responsible for giving
them their midpoint and final evaluations. Twice a week, I am the primary
contact person for any student to check out any answers they are going to
give out through the call center. I also have several longitudinal
projects myself. One is to integrate a Health Information Technology
lecture into an existing Evidence Based Medicine course. The other is a
study looking at all randomized, controlled trials published over the last
five years in four of the most influential medical publications to
determine whether the recommendations made by the study are supported by
the results. The entire staff at the DIC is responsible for teaching an
Evidence Based Medicine course each spring to students in their final year
of didactic coursework and as a fellow I am responsible for teaching a
lecture as well as preparing an assignment for the entire class.
