Position: Drug Information Fellow

Duties: As a fellow my duties are quite varied. Each month I am the

primary preceptor for a student on rotation. I am their primary contact

for their longitudinal project as well as the person responsible for giving

them their midpoint and final evaluations. Twice a week, I am the primary

contact person for any student to check out any answers they are going to

give out through the call center. I also have several longitudinal

projects myself. One is to integrate a Health Information Technology

lecture into an existing Evidence Based Medicine course. The other is a

study looking at all randomized, controlled trials published over the last

five years in four of the most influential medical publications to

determine whether the recommendations made by the study are supported by

the results. The entire staff at the DIC is responsible for teaching an

Evidence Based Medicine course each spring to students in their final year

of didactic coursework and as a fellow I am responsible for teaching a

lecture as well as preparing an assignment for the entire class.

Duties: During the summer of 2008, I worked as an intern for the Indian

Health Service at the Nimkee Memorial Wellness Center on the Saginaw

Chippewa Indian Reservation. My responsibilities included general patient

counseling and working in their Coumadin clinic. I also participated in

community education on diabetes and other disease states with the nursing

staff.

Duties: My responsibilities included several areas of the hospital and

many job tasks. I worked in the OR and heart center pharmacies which

allowed me the opportunity to compound medications and do medication

reconciliations under the supervision of one of the staff pharmacists.

Medication reconciliation consisted of visiting newly admitted patient's

rooms and completing a home medication list. In addition to these duties

during the week, on weekends I work regular technician shifts as a floor

tech, IV room tech and other duties as assigned.

Pharmacists (APhA_ASP). I was our local APhA-ASP

chapter's Operation Diabetes patient care project

chairperson from 2006-2008. As chairperson, I'm in charge

of setting up and running 3-4 screenings per month. At

these screenings we check people for high blood sugar and

give out information about diabetes.

Mar 2009-Present Phi Lamda Sigma. I was inducted into our schools

chapter of PLS in March of 2009.
