Administrative Assistant Community Development Department, Engineering Division
I Processed and maintained contracts for Capital Improvement Projects, public works and street
maintenance improvements. Monitored funds in the purchase orders and processed payment of invoices. I staffed
the Traffic and Transportation Commission by preparing monthly agendas and taking summary minutes. I
composed and proofread correspondence, memos and other documents for the city engineer and engineering staff.
I also proofread and formatted council reports and letter of agreements for staff.
I enjoy learning new duties and expanding my knowledge of the department and organization and
transferred from the planning division to the engineering division. In the planning division, I handled resident
calls and questions related to the process of applying for city permits to remodel, develop and startup new

The first four years of my employment with the City of Claremont I handled the code

opportunity to grow and transferred to the planning division when a position became available.

I served as assistant to the Employee Training Officer by organizing his training classes. I advertised classes to

I also assisted the Human Resources Department by backing up receptionist taking incoming calls, filing and
general office duties. I assisted citywide with my bilingual skills, written and spoken. I left this part time
position to seek fulltime employment.

I handled the director’s calendar and appointments, composed and proofread correspondence and related
educational materials. I handled his travel arrangements when he traveled to Russia and China on botanist
expeditions. I organized the annual Botanical Symposium, preparing pamphlets, posters, and conference
information and registration. I was in charge of logistics of speaker presentations, accommodations for 200
attendees, and meals for the event. I organized the botany students to assist in this event. I also maintained student
confidential files and counseled them with any issues they had. I was also the interpreter when we had UNAM
administrators (University of Mexico) visiting.
Prior to my employment at the botanical garden, I was on maternity leave with my second son. During that time, I
relocated my family from west Los Angeles to the Inland Empire and was a stay at home mother for approximately
one year.

addition, I oversaw general operations of a very busy accountancy firm. Part of my duties was to train and
supervise receptionist and other clerical staff. I typed financial statements and monthly invoices. I also entered
data on Computax and compiled and processed tax returns for individual and corporate clients. I maintained and
entered time sheet data in program to produce the monthly billing. Maintained and organized all client files. I
left this employment to relocate my family to the Inland Valley and was a stay at home mother of two young
children.
