Plan and run the summer program for inner-city youth. Coordinate guest speakers and service-learning trips
relating to topics such as Natural Disasters, Animal Cruelty, Homelessness and Addiction. Direct and assist
interns and workers in planning related activities. Maintain order among the youth and mediate any
conflicts that arise. Assist in creating, implementing, and analyzing all evaluations and measurable
outcomes both academic and social/behavioral for the program. Communicate with parents and guardians
about concerns and issues that exist. Bring in partnering organizations/individuals to augment the
programming for the youth. Maintain and advance relationships with the families. Manage and maintain
all related paper work and files for each youth.

Assessed rehabilitation needs of clients with mental health concerns, drug addictions and other issues
preventing them from living healthy and satisfying lives. Developed rehabilitation plans to help clients
live more independently and healthily. Monitored clients’ cooperation in taking prescribed medications
and attending mental health appointments. Evaluated clients’ progress toward goals.

Scored assessment measures for clients receiving behavioral therapy. Observed individual and family
treatment sessions. Discussed treatment plans for patients with supervisor and learned techniques and
theories for certain problem behaviors. Observed Social Skills group sessions in which eight children
worked toward learning appropriate social interactions and proper school behavior. Completed
literature searches for articles needed by therapists.

Provided swimming instruction for children of all ages and skill levels. Co-taught infants-and-parents

Habonim Dror North America
Habonim Dror is a Labor Zionist youth movement active in more than twenty countries. It is built on a set of
ideological pillars that members try to uphold in their everyday lives.
Participant, Workshop 55, Israel, August 2005 – May 2006
Lived communally with 60 peers in Israel. The last four months of the program, we lived in Migdal
HaEmek, a development town in the north of Israel, where we volunteered, teaching English to middle-
school children. In Nazareth, a nearby Arab town, Worked with Arab teenagers on activities aimed at
improving co-existence between the Jewish and Arab populations.
Camp Counselor and Youth Movement Leader, Camp Moshava, Bel Air, Maryland,
June 2006 – August 2006; June 2007 – August 2007
Lived in tent with children going into ninth grade. Conducted both educational and fun activities and
ensured that campers were safe, healthy, and happy at all times. Learned to manage children dealing
with challenging circumstances and individual issues, such as abusive parents, eating disorders,
sleeping disorders, and severe emotional issues, including self abuse.
VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE
Fundación Crecer, Guayaquil, Ecuador
Volunteer. July 1 – July 30, 2009
Fundación Crecer is an informal school for “street children” in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
Assisted teachers by working one on one with students to practice their English. Completed arts and
crafts projects with small groups of children both to get them out of the classroom and to give them the
opportunity to do hands-on activities. Created an art project that allowed the children to find ways to
express themselves while working together as a team toward a goal.
New Jerusalem Children’s Centre (orphanage). Midrand, South Africa
Volunteer. January 2008 and July 2008
Assisted caregivers with feeding, bathing and watching over the children. Worked one on one with
preschool-aged children, teaching the alphabet and beginning reading, and with young girls who had
been physically or sexually abused. Worked with infants to help them reach appropriate levels of
development, both physically and mentally. Worked in the main office, writing reports and filing.
Accompanied children to the clinic for doctor’s appointments, immunizations and HIV/AIDS
treatment. Accompanied children to visits with family.
Planned Parenthood – Students Teaching About Responsible Sexuality (S.T.A.R.S.),
New Haven, Connecticut
Peer Educator. August 2004 – June 2005
Worked with a team of seven other high school students to coordinate conferences on responsible
sexuality (topics included sexual orientation, healthy relationships, sexually transmitted illnesses, and
pregnancy prevention) for junior high and senior high school students. Participated in weekly training
sessions and ran monthly conferences.
