RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE
APRIL 2008-JUNE 2009: TERRADEX, INC., Palo Alto, California
Project Manager
I was responsible for monitoring the institutional and engineering
controls at contaminated sites throughout California. I ensured that land
use covenants satisfied federal and state statutes. My duties included
communicating with customers and parties that supply Terradex with data,
managing and fulfilling projects involving stewardship of environmental
sites, and ensuring institutional and engineering controls were being
properly implemented and maintained.
I monitored and managed environmental institutional and engineering
controls within the following contexts:
Responsible Parties: I monitored institutional controls and engineering
controls implemented on a site which had been environmentally degraded.
Continuing Obligations for Landowners: I generated the documentation for a
landowner's future liability defense when federal and state laws require
the maintenance of institutional and engineering controls.
Brownfield Redevelopment Services for Government: I tracked and monitored
local and state environmental covenants which restrict certain activities
due to the nature of toxicity. I worked closely with the Environmental
Protection Agency and the Department of Toxic Substances Control.
Formerly Used Defense Sites: I monitored land use for 20 formerly used
defense sites (FUDS) throughout the state of California, which span across
18 counties.
Extensive knowledge of environmental law including: Cal EPA, RCRA, Clean
Water Act, NEPA, and CEQA.
Extensive use of Google Earth, kml scripts, geocoding, and Geographical
Information Systems (GIS).
MAY 2007-MAY 2008: MID PENINSULA REGIONAL OPEN SPACE DISTRICT, Los Altos,
California
Wildlife Research
I was awarded a grant through the Mid Peninsula Regional Open Space
District to conduct my master's thesis research. Research was conducted on
non-native wild turkeys and their ecology. I was responsible for assessing
the impact of this species on the ecosystem at Rancho de Guadalupe Open
Space Preserve. I developed and implemented a research plan to collect
baseline data including seasonal habitat selection, food selection, and
movement within the preserve to determine the likelihood and risks of wild
turkeys out-competing the native flora and fauna of this diverse ecosystem.
Extensive use of Geographical Information Systems.
