Chief of Guards
Serves as the site manager ensuring compliance with requirements for the protection of installation
PL 4 resources. Protect personnel, classified information, and sensitive material from criminal,
terrorist or hostile intelligence collection. Making sure physical equipment is operating properly at all
access control points. Coordinates and facilitates ACP issues with installation agencies and staff for
various activities. Process and resolve inquires/complaints relating to ACP issues or the personnel
performing ACP duties. Conducts inspections of ACPs to ensure all resource protection procedures
are being followed, properly manned, performance of duties, and cleanliness of the ACP area.
Investigates illegal or suspicious activities, to aid in crime prevention on the installation. Ability to
communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Maintain knowledge of, comply with, and enforce
all federal policies, rules, procedures, and regulations. Take control of accident scenes to maintain
traffic flow, to assist accident victims. Maintain order, discipline, and security within assigned areas in
accordance with relevant rules, regulations, policies and laws.Restrain, secure, and control offenders,
using chemical agents, firearms, and other means of force necessary. Monitors behavior of
subordinates to ensure alert, courteous, and professional behavior toward visitors, contractors, fellow
employees, and the public.Reviews, processes,and files access control logs, and other paperwork
associated with ACP operations. Ensures incident reports are properly completed and disseminated
to the Chief of Guard as well as physical security and the chief of Security Forces. Conducts frequent
radio checks with all access control points and security forces to ensure communication is
maintained, answer telephone calls, provide information, and process complaints, forwarding
information to appropriate personnel. Plans and develops ACP procedures and provides written
instruction to ACP personnel. Ensures dissemination of the information. Ensures proper training for
personnel ensuring they understand the SOP for the access control points and all resource protection
procedures are being followed. Coordinates and facilitates adherence to procedures outlined in the
SOP through inspection and on the spot correction. Ensures essential information is disseminated to
Security Forces, DAF Police, MPs and employees assigned to ACP's in a timely manner. Assures that
employees have proper training, materials, and knowledge to maintain rosters to ensure the vetting of
authorized person(s) onto the installation. Schedules work hours to meet peak hours. Resolves
simple, informal complaints of employees and refers others to Chief of Guard. Reports to Chief of
Guard on performance, progression, behavior problems, and training needs of employees.
