Job Title: Outby utili ty/ Belt Maintenance

Buchanan Mine is a five section coal mine with a long wall section. All sections at

t his mine were car sections. Buchanan Mine employs roughly 700 miners.

Responsibilities: Performed all types of belt maintenance from shoveling to

g reasing drives. Helped make belt splices. I also helped set up new drives and take

u ps for upcoming longwall panels. We also set up belt entry for upcoming longwall

panels. Put in hard line for water advancement and made belt moves. Changed out

worn scrapers at head drives and skir t rubber at tailpieces. Equipment operated at

t his mine: S&S and Fairchild scoops, Brookeville mant rips and mini t racks.

Perry County Coal was a four section coal mine. I t operates th ree continuous miner

sections and a car section. They employ roughly 200 miners.

Responsibilities:I was responsible for the oversight that all intake/ return and t rack

t ravel ways were maintained in a t ravelable fashion and ensured that they were well

rock dusted. Oversaw the construction and completion of all overcast for new

section development. Oversaw the construction and completion of all seals.

Oversaw the installation of t rack as the mine advanced. Other duties: section

Foreman, in this job I was responsible for the safety and well being of all men under

my direct supervision. I ensured all mine laws State, Federal and company, were

being applied to the mining process. I was also responsible for finding and

correcting any violations that were present or occurred during section development.

P reshifter: in this role I made all outby preshifts that was assigned to the section or

sections I was assigned to examine. I also examined belts for bad splices and made

methane checks at all allocated areas. Fireboss: In this job I was responsible to

perform wekly mine examinations. Performed gas test and checked for air quality

t hroughout entire mine. Ensured that the air was moving in the proper direction

and velocity. Ensured that all bleeder systems were in tact and functioning properly.

Equipment operated at this mine: DBT and EJC Scoops, Bucyrus MBC, DBT Ram

Car, Fletcher Double head, Single head and Truss Bolters, Brookeville Mant rips

Responsibilities: Helped construct all over cast and seals. Helped with

ventilation changes. Scoop operator, Mbc operator, Roof bolter. I also

helped set pumps in areas that was overflowed with water. Worked on

t rack crew and helped move new equipment into and old equipment out of

m ine.
