OBJECTIVE
To secure a challenging Civil/Structural or Project Engineering position
that will utilize and expand my knowledge and experience.
EXPERIENCE
Hazen and Sawyer, PC. New York, NY, March 5th 2007 to Nov 9th, 2012
. Assisted in the development of structural contract drawings and
specifications for bidding large infrastructure projects. These
environmental structures included pump stations, water and wastewater
process treatment facilities and dams as well as low rise industrial
buildings. My duties included structural design calculations for
steel, reinforced concrete, aluminum, masonry and stainless steel
structures.
. Prepared scopes of work for geotechnical investigations. This included
structural design parameters used for foundation and retaining wall
designs.
. Served as Structural Field Liaison between structural design engineers
and the construction management team on a 600 million dollar waste
water upgrade project in Brooklyn NY. My duties included coordinating
RFI and RFC responses with the structural design engineer, shop
drawing review, field issue resolution and general construction design
coordination to ensure proper implementation of design construction
contract documents.
. Provided structural DSDC (Design services during construction) on
various infrastructure projects. Duties included RFI responses to
contractor questions, shop drawing review and field issue resolution.
Examples of specific projects worked on at Hazen and Sawyer:
o The New Jersey American Water Company's Delaware River Regional
Water Treatment Plant Expansion Project, New Jersey: Assisted in
the development of the structural contract drawings and the
structural design of the new Ozone contactor, gravity thickener
and superpulsator. The project increases the reliable capacity
of the treatment plant from 30 mgd to 40 mgd. In order to
accomplish this goal, the project included the design of a new
ozone contact basin, a new superpulsator basin, and a new 85'
diameter gravity thickener.
o Madbury Water Treatment Plant Upgrade, Portsmouth Department of
Public Health, Portsmouth, NH: Assisted in the development of
the structural contract drawings as well as the structural
design of the various plant concrete and steel structures for
the Madbury Water Treatment Plant. The plant consisted of a new
4-mgd water treatment plant to replace an aging facility. The
project included integrating new dissolved air flotation and
filters into an existing site, as well as updating the residuals
handling facilities.
o 26th Ward Water Pollution Control Plant, Brooklyn, NY, NYCDEP:
Assisted in the development of the structural contract drawings
as well as the structural design of the various plant concrete
and steel structures for the Preliminary Treatment and Solids
Handling Facilities.
Consolidated Edison, INC., New York, NY, March 9, 2006 to March 5th
2007
Civil Engineering Consultant-Civil/Mechanical Department
. Provided Civil Engineering consulting services for projects. My duties
included communicating with the design engineering department as well
as outside design consultant's the civil engineering design criteria
for each project. Coordinated the efforts of different departments
within Consolidated Edison to bring a project to completion.
. Prepared civil scopes-of-work for a project in addition to budget
requests and appropriation documents. Prepared detailed Civil and
Environmental specifications for projects. Met with vendors and the
user groups to establish project schedules. Provided support to
existing company substation facilities, and to Purchasing and
Construction Departments for the procurement and construction of
projects.
Examples of specific projects worked on at Consolidated Edison:
o Freshkills Substation Control Building 2006
o Ramapo Breaker Replacement 2006
o Buchanan Substation New Switchgear Installation 2006
o West 19th Street Transformer Replacements 2007
Burns & McDonnell, INC., Kansas City, MO, April 26, 2004 to
January 3, 2006
Staff Civil Engineer-Transmission and Distribution Division
. Responsibilities included steel design of standard and site-specific
equipment supports and design of several types of foundations,
including spread footings, slabs on grade, and drilled shafts.
Provided structure loading diagrams for the design of equipment
supports and transmission structures. Used a variety of structural
design/analysis software packages including PCA-MATS, PLS-CADD, and
several in-house design programs.
Examples of specific projects worked on at Burns & McDonnell:
o City of Bentonville 2004 to 2005
Civil/Structural Design Engineer for 161/15-kV substation in
Bentonville, AR. Responsibilities included drilled shaft,
circuit breaker, and transformer foundation designs.
o American Transmission Company 2004
Transmission Design Engineer for 345kV steel pole transmission
line. I was responsible for preliminary structure spotting using
PLS-Cadd. Spot locations took into account cost estimates while
minimizing environmental impacts of structure locations.
OAKWOOD HOMES CORPORATION, Greensboro, NC; May 18, 1997 to April 10,
2004

. Ensured the structural integrity of manufactured homes by designing
and engineering wood, steel, and concrete structural systems,
including gravity support and lateral wind support systems.
. Assisted engineering department and manufacturing personnel in solving
problems related to engineering design requirements.
. Performed heat-loss calculations and communicated thermal heating and
cooling requirements to appropriate manufacturing and retail
personnel.
. Provided consulting services to retail sales centers on home setup
issues.
. Performed project scheduling for multiple projects, i.e. established
target dates and provided project status updates.
. Investigated and implemented cost-cutting ideas related to factory-
built housing construction.
. Prepared and submitted construction plans and/or details to
