Dear Sir or Madam:
The enclosed resume highlights my experience over the past two years as a
Linguist/Cultural Advisor assigned to the US Military in Afghanistan. In
that capacity, I translated sensitive and extremely important conversations
between US and Afghanistan National Army leadership groups covering a wide
range of issues including discussions on current operations, personnel
staffing, future requirements, logistics, infrastructure projects, and
garrison management. Meetings were both formally scheduled and impromptu,
often in an atmosphere of tension and volatile emotions. This required the
ability to provide accurate interpretation between high-ranking individuals
from both commands for which I received Certificates of Recognition,
Certificates of Appreciation and several Coins of Achievement.
My goal is to join your organization in a position in which I can
contribute the knowledge and experience that I have acquired in order to be
of service to my country. My earlier background encompasses management
responsibility, working successfully with various populations. Throughout
my life I have worked collaboratively with various cultures, which has been
reflected in my versatility as a linguist. I am a dedicated professional,
who is meticulous in my work and able to remain calm under extremely
stressful conditions.
I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss my background in greater
detail in a personal interview.
Sincerely,
Najim (Jim) Karimi
