Dependency Case Manager Termination of Parental Rights Unit: Evaluated and removed children and their families that were charged with egregious child abuse, abandonment or neglect. Ensure necessary services and treatment, write case plans, judicial reviews and other assessment reports and present them to the Judges and Magistrates in dependency court. Follow cases through the termination of parental trials and hearings, testify in court and report throughout the trial and disposition of the children. Maintain case and program documentation to coordinate with supervisors, team members, Dept of Children and Families Professionals and attorneys. Prepare cases for adoption, facilitate placement and independent living.

Case Manager: Managed a caseload of 40 patients on the Family Intervention Services (FIS) Assessment Team which provided family intervention services for adjudicated children and their families with a focus on reunification. Responsibilities included intake interviewing, assessment, crisis intervention, creating and maintaining family case plans, staffing cases weekly with Family Intervention Services case managers, reviewed and charted all written documents generated by Family Intervention Services, attend court hearings, case reviews, staffings and meetings with Dept of Children and Families. Provided identification and drug screening of clients needs for all referred priority adults assessed by the Adult Assessment Team; facilitated referrals to community service providers; acted as a liaison between the criminal justice system and client; arranged for needed support services; conducted field, phone, and/or other contacts to track client progress and intervened in crisis situations.

Medical-Psychiatric Liaison

Psychiatric research assistant to the director of research which evaluated patient’s psychological reactions acute medical crisis. Developed research projects, wrote guidelines for interview questioning, compiled statistics, interviewed patients and performed statistical evaluations of data. Group supportive therapy with patients about to be discharged from a psychiatric and substance abuse treatment centers. Assistance in the assessment of goals, placement services and supportive follow-up treatment. Discussion focus on disposition, anticipated problems, building support systems, developing family involvement and crisis counseling.
