Career Overview

I have been employed within the construction industry from a hands on

approach to project management. Projects have included civil construction,

tank fabrication & installation, mechanical installation and structural

steel erection. I am currently employed as a tank erection and mechanical

installation superintendent with an EPCM company overseeing sub

contractors. To ensure safe working practices are maintained and quality

procedures and specifications are controlled. I am engaged in the

scheduling performance of the sub contractors, and assist in look ahead

plans, whilst reviewing all documentation including method statements, risk

assessments and critical lifting plans.

Coupled with construction, I am involved with all welding controls and am

familiar with welding procedures required within the industry.

Employment History

July 2009-Present: Ambatovy Nickel Refinery (Madagascar)

Part of a Project Management team; Tank Superintendent

Standing in for area manager when on rotation

Employed site wide, including utilities and process areas

Management of multi national workforce approximately 700 workers

Responsible and erection of site thickeners, structural steel, vessels,

agitators, pumps, motor installation, process, acid and storage tanks

High emphasis is placed on safe work practices, through supervision and

continuous education on international law and standards

Assistance in generating Method Statements, JSA`s, work permits, Risk

evaluations, tool box talks and monitoring of work practices in order to

achieve zero accident rate

Chairing meetings and guidance of the sub contract management team

Scheduling work to maintain strict timelines

QA/QC of regulations including welding and project specifications

Reporting of project status and recognizing problematic areas and concerns

whilst solving these issues

EXPERIENCE last 15 years

TANK BUILDING: Fabricated and installed various tanks, acid/ holding.

I was awarded the contract to fabricate and install P5/ P2 98.8 % sulphuric

acid tanks at Foskor Richards Bay.

Dimensions 22 m in diameter / 14 m high

As project leader I was involved in all aspects of this contract including:

Safety/ Quality control/ Bar charts/ QCP/ Rigging study/JSA/ Work methology

Consumable and material certification/ welding procedures/ Reading of

drawings

Tanks where built to API 650 standards, fabricated and installed on site.

SUPER HEATER & ECONOMISER INSTALLATION (304 S/ STEEL)

The super heater and economizer were delivered to Foskor in four section

weighing 84 tons in total.

The old super heater economizer was removed in three sections and replaced

with the new one.

160 ton crane and low bed was used to move existing S/H to a lay down area

and move new S/H into position

It was imperative to get no misalignment on this super heater economizer

This job was done in a shutdown therefore duration was critical.

Preformed QCP, bar charts, alignment, prep work, welding, methology, JSA

and tool box talks.

OTHER PROJECTS

Fabrication of pipe structures, platforms, hoppers, gas ducts.

Instillation of pipes, structures, platforms, hoppers, bellows, gas ducts.

Mechanical instillation of pumps/ motors/ vessels/ tanks. Smaller tanks

where fabricated in work shop and erected on site.

GENERAL

I have dealt with most of the large industries in Richards Bay being

Foskor, Richards Bay Minerals, Hillside and Bayside Aluminum, Mondi. My

relations with workforce and management are good having experience working

with different cultures. I have a lot of experience in managing large

groups of workers, sub contractors and feel I would be a great asset to any

company in this line of work.
