Managing / leading four of the management systems (ISO 14001 Environment,
OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety, ISO 9001 Quality, and 27048 Radioactive
Protection). Certified lead auditor of the three systems (9000, 14000 and
18000). Implementing the ISO 9001 to gain certification to meet the
requirements of the two stakeholders i.e. Cameco (the Canadian part) and
KazAtomProm (the Kazakhstani part). Work to achieve compliance to the
requirements of the standards, best practices, Cameco corporate
requirements, KazAtomProm requirements, as well as national and
international and other applicable requirements. Designed a special portal

products, which are in line with Total Quality Management strategy
according to the family of ISO 9001-2000 international standards. Provided
consulting support to 40 Almaty small businesses and small businesses
across Kazakhstan in the general effort to improve overall operation of
business, covering improvements in different areas such as personnel,
processes, management, customers and suppliers' relationships, etc.
Monitored outputs, indicators, and overall project impact following the
Performance Management Plan (PMP). Average efficiency rise recorded at

Designed and developed the project's deliverable on Case Studies. In two
months developed a structure of a web portal on case studies
(www.ednetca.org/cases.html). The portal incorporated a theoretical part
to help faculty members implement this technique into their teaching
practice. Another part of the portal is devoted to the actual case
studies - covering both local and international practices - on economics
and business courses. A collection of more than 370 case studies has been
prepared and put online for the use of faculty members, students of
member institutions, and general public such as business sector, NGOs,
and different associations. The Project ended on 1 June 2004.

Two courses - Advanced Microeconomics and Intermediate Macroeconomics -
were taught in the Osh Representative Office under auspices of AED.
Completed the design and programming of a CD which covers teaching
Macroeconomics Course in HEIs of Central Asia. This software includes
materials from three Central Asian countries (Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and
Kyrgyzstan) which were distributed to the participants of the Academy for
the use in their own classes. Organized and conducted seminars and
workshops covering modern teaching methodologies for the faculty members
of local HEIs.

Developed EdNet online courses. Dealt with preparation of different types
of information and reports in English and Russian. Monitored progress,
including drafting correspondence and memoranda.

Worked as a Visiting International Professor (VIP) in the regional
branches of Education Network Academy (Almaty, Dushanbe, and Tashkent).
Developed and taught different economics courses. Designed syllabi and
applied new teaching techniques in class for the Academy's participants
(faculty members of HEIs from Central Asia). Proposed and designed
software - offline and online versions - for distance learning. Developed
teaching materials for working with Microsoft Office Components and Case

modern teaching methodologies for the faculty members of local HEIs.
Built the capacity of the private sector and HEIs to participate and help

Uzbekistan / Ferghana City (10/01 to 06/02)
Under the Resource Network on Economic and Business Education Project
(RNEBE) as a Visiting International Professor (VIP) to Ferghana State
University fulfilled the following activities: (1) Two academic courses
per semester were taught for students of Master and Bachelor programs;
(2) Conducted one-on-one advising, consulting, and group training for
faculty members on issues of curricula development, grant writing,
research methods, and methodology of teaching; (3) Provided consulting
with the university's administrators to assist them in their development
of the faculty, and the connections of the university with other
international universities; (4) Presented speeches, workshops and
seminars in the context of the joint seminars offered quarterly by all
VIPs in Central Asia; (5) Provided RNEBE with a written assessment of the
university as well as with periodic reports on the efforts and activities
performed. Moreover, organized a SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) Team
of Ferghana State University which immediately took the second place in
the State SIFE Competition. Consulted students' companies and different
associations on economic issues (TQM, process reengineering, capacity
building etc.) Served as a resource person and/or facilitator for
training workshops and activities as appropriate.

Within the framework of the USAID Trade and Investment Project provided
assistance to the Kazakhstan Ministry of Economy and other government
bodies with regard to Kazakhstan's accession to the World Trade
Organization. Liaised with central and regional authorities in the
territories of the program accreditation, partner organizations,
multilateral and other bilateral donors, project monitors and evaluators
and, as required, Headquarters. Consulted on the compliance of the
Kazakhstani legislation with requirements and provisions of the WTO in the
field of investments, foreign trade, customs, and other areas on the basis
of the results of analytical reports drafted earlier. Conducted assessments
of the business climate, and analyzed its implication on the economic and
social outcomes, such as productivity, investment, informality, corruption,
unemployment, and poverty. Provided specific economic analysis and advice
as required by the ministry officials. Identified economic and other issues
independently vis- -vis Kazakhstan's WTO accession processes and advised
the Country Director for addressing such issues and concerns. Advised the
ministry in drafting its most recent Goods and Services Offers. Drew,
appraised, discussed and revised, as necessary, project documents and
budgets, also prepared progress and financial reports, participated in and
held meetings with ministries' officials. Supervised a team of lawyers and
economists on preparing the final project's deliverables. Served as a press
attach in communications with media and third parties. Conducted
comprehensive analyses of key aspects of both national and local regulatory
environments in Central Asian Countries to help inform the public-private
dialogue and the SME policy-making process. Carried out the work in charge
of the Country Director responsibilities during his business trips. The
Project ended on 1 July 2001.
Economic Development Program Trainer / Peace Corps Kazakhstan (05/00 to
08/00)
Designed and implemented a Community Based Training that provided
activities and opportunities for experiential learning by trainees (a group
of 25 students). Held primary responsibility for all SBD training
activities. Coordinated the running of the program with public
administration/local authorities. Conducted trainee assessment and
feedback, trainee counseling and training program evaluation. Fully
responsible for all the day-to-day running of the ED program. Also dealt
with the following issues: designed staff job description, reviewed
spending and submitted a budget, carried responsibility for
weekly/monthly/final reports, supervised ED Department of five assistants,
trained / supervised / evaluated departmental staff. Delivered ToT courses.
The Project ended on 1 August 2000.
