Irish American Heritage Center, Chicago, IL March 2010 to Present

Pro-bono graphic designer for iBAM! 2010, an Irish cultural fair and

Irish American Hall of Fame:

. Design and production of banners for permanent display of inductees

in the Irish American Hall of Fame.

. Designed iBAM! poster that became iconic image used for all

publicity. Working with PR head, designed all print and web ads,

calendar of events, decor, postcards and fliers, letterhead.

Guest Curator: A Touch of the Poet show:

. Recruited 39 fine artists (including self) to team up with an Irish

writer to produce a fine art work for gallery. Oversaw all duties

including set-up, art drop-off and pick-up, teamed with PR person to

promote show. Researched and created directory for gallery tour with

writers' passage or poem, brief bios along with artists' statement of

their inspiration for their piece. Received good press from radio,

print and television, and a recommendation by New City.

Active Trader Magazine, Chicago, IL

Art Director and Co-Production Manager

. Launched Active Trader magazine with Editor-in-Chief, Publisher,

Managing Editor and News Editor in 2000. (Designed templates, logo,

cover, interior graphics, house ads, editorial content. First issue ran

in the black, and continues to.)

. Created all layout, design, and graphics for three monthly consumer

financial trading magazines. (one print and three online digital in pdf

format).

. Brain-stormed with writers and editors to illustrate and produce images

and graphics for all covers in house. Strong drafting skills and

commercial photography background negated the use of freelancers keeping

costs low. (Over 250 covers generated including foreign language editions

in Farsi, Arabic, German, and Russian.)

. Collaborated with printer on direct-to-plate files which reduced

printing costs by over $30,000 annually.

. Converted all information graphics, tables and photographs into gifs

and jpegs to flow past articles into html files for web. Over 250 issues

were done in-house making outside productions costs unnecessary, while

also maintaining daily magazine and production deadlines.
