Objectives
To return to the field of writing/editing/publishing where I belong. To
obtain extensive experience and knowledge in the field, eventually
rendering me an invaluable asset to any related company. To find
fulfillment in my everyday work.
Education
B.A. @ University of Massachusetts Lowell, 2004-2008
Major: English, Writing concentration
Minor: Business Administration
GPA: 3.33 / 4.00, Cum Laude Honors
Accomplishments
While at college, I helped found the school's first Creative Writing Club.
We offered a place for writers to could come and have their efforts
enthusiastically workshopped every week and do the same for others. It was
a fantastic experience, and everyone learned a lot.
Work Experience
Five grueling years at a local supermarket. Climbed my way up the corporate
ladder from disrespected peon to...older disrespected peon.
Once graduating, I landed a job as an editorial assistant for a detective
agency called Claims Bureau USA. I edited (or rewrote) reports, billed and
mailed the reports, and other miscellaneous things like book hotels and
touch base with the investigators. I enjoyed putting my degree to use, but
the overall experience wasn't a pleasant one.
I bounced around between labor jobs until finding a home at a Starbucks,
where I remain today. I can now say I have more than enough experience
working in a fast-paced environment.
Skills
I have an extremely high attention to detail as is required by an
editor/writer, and I do everything I possibly can to avoid making mistakes.
I take great care in everything I do and would much rather go slower than
make a crucial and irreparable mistake.
I am a natural sponge with whatever it is I set out/am told to do. If you
want something done a certain way, it will be done that way. I have no
reservations about asking questions in lieu of looking smart if something
is unclear or ambiguous.
Conclusion
I've had more than enough different jobs in the past four years or so, and
now's the time for me to return to where I belong. One thing having many
different jobs has granted me is the knowledge of my worth in the eyes of
my employers. Every employer I've had has loved having me on the team-not
because of my skills or abilities, but because of my obvious focus and
desire to excel. No matter the job, I always strive to be the best I can
be. It doesn't matter if I'm editing reports or stocking shelves-everything
should be done to beyond satisfaction.
