Dear Recruiter:
My experience in the software industry has afforded me the opportunity to
become familiar with various aspects of the business. From writing
applications to documenting them and employing marketing strategies, I have
provided insight in each facet with great enthusiasm. I believe I could
utilize my expertise in computing as a software developerr.
Although my background is highly technical, my work has required that I
work in multiple environments where my responsibilities required me to
manage groups of individuals to get projects completed. This often entailed
providing an overview of the project assigned, working closely with staff
members to ensure they understood the details assigned and enforcing
disciplinary measures when required.
In my pursuit to become a better developer, I have taken the necessary
steps required to maintain a cutting-edge skill-set. Utilizing the latest
developments Microsoft has to offer, I have refactored applications to take
advantage of these methodologies. I have taken flat spreadsheet data and
via
normalization principles created tables which I perform various statistical
test. In addition I have installed various software, operating systems and
networks (wired and wireless) of various topologies when required.
I believe my dedication to this field provides me with the basic
necessities required for a position of this type. I work well with others
as well as on my own. I am driven to solve problems which others may
consider too complex and I can explain technical jargon in layman's terms.
I am very familiar with statistics and have utilized applications such as
SQL, SPSS, Excel, and SAS to analyze data models.
Please review my resume and should you find my experience worthy of an
interview, I would surely be pleased to meet with you to discuss employment
possibilities.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely
Victor

Assignment: FIRST DATA MERCHANT SERVICES; Melville NY;
The largest credit card processing establishment in the U.S. required that
four thousand focexecs utilized primarily for internal reporting, be
remediated by Nov, 1999 to meet strict Y2K compliancy standards. FOCUS
7.08r under MVS environment and FOCUS for Windows; ver 6.44 running under
Windows 95/NT platforms were utilized. A simulated testing environment was
created to enable users to verify accuracy of modified focexecs. Comparison
sheets were generated using TSO utilities to display 'before and after '
flat-file output requested by Price Waterhouse auditors. Tech support was
provided to end -users requiring assistance. Developed menu -driven system
for end user which eliminated users from modifying focexecs directly.eg: NO
need to open a focexec to change an allocation or screening condition. All
assignments were completed in sufficient time to meet deadlines set forth
by First Data.
Additional assignments at First Data are outlined below:
Chase Firewall Project: As a requirement of federal law Chase bank's data
was stripped out from global web datasets. Those business analyst who work
for Chase lost access to global datasets. It was my responsibility to
modify FOCUS executables utilizing regular expression techniques so their
allocations were local to the respective bank or alliance.
Automated Dataset Allocation: A FOCUS database was established with all
user Ids and their access levels to different datasets in production. A
focexec was created to execute within the profile automatically as the
users log in. Using one master, different datasets were allocated based on
a users access to the data.
PC Focus Scripts: In order to present downloaded reports in Excel format, I
was required to create a Focus script which transferred downloaded files
from the mainframe to specific directories on the users PCs.
