Records patients Ophthalmic history, and conducts tests and measurements to
assist Ophthalmologist with diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders and disease.
Tests patient's far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, color
perception, ocular motility, pupil examination.
Examines eye, using slit lamp, for abnormalities of cornea, and anterior and
posterior chambers.
Applies drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes.
Measures intraocular pressure of eyes.
Tests patient's field of vision, including central and peripheral vision, for
defects, and charts test results.
Performs eye photography, FA testing, A scans, OCT, IOL master, refractions,
Applanation Tonometry, corneal topography, manual keratometry, GDx,
Humphrey Visual Field analyzer, pachymetry, BAT.
Performs other tests and measurements as requested by physician.
Gives instructions to patients concerning eye care.
Supervises and trains other technicians.
Performs surgical pre-ops.
Assists Ophthalmologist in operating room with surgical procedures, minor office
surgical procedures and intraocular injections.
