PERSONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
• Medical Clinic in Ferrier, Haiti March 2010
I worked at a small clinic that saw approximately 400 patients in the northeast corner of Haiti. I
assisted and observed physicians while also working in the triage area recording patients’
complaints and vital signs. The experience was most rewarding in meeting the families of the
village and the education I received about poverty with the need for healthcare as well as
education about health.
• Internship with Mission Waco Fall 2009
For the fall semester, I was introduced to Mission Waco by participation in its programs as well
as mentorship by its founder. Dr. Jimmy Dorrell met with me once a week to teach me about his
organization and ministry. I helped with many of the programs including the children’s
afterschool club, the social services center, the homeless shelter, the drug recovery home, and the
weekly Friday breakfast. I was also able to participate in a Poverty Simulation weekend, in
which I experienced homelessness firsthand.
