EXPERIENCE
June 2013 – Present
- Immunetics Inc, Boston, MA
Research Associate (Molecular Diagnostics and Clinical Validation – Endocarditis and Fungal Project)
Main goal is to develop immune assay diagnostic kit for detection and Validation of Infectious endocarditis and Antibiotic
resistant bacteria using DNA microarray based Reverse Line blot (RLB) technique.
Obtain rRNA sequence using ARB/SILVA. Design specific probes and primers for specific bacterial strains.
Extract DNA from live patient blood samples using QIAcube Automated system. Carry out PCR using the designed Primers.
Make Blots using the patented technology (Immunetics) and hybridise them with the samples and probes using the patented
CodaXcel instrument designed by Immunetics.
Analyse the Blots and optimize the experiment to increase the specificity and sensitivity of the RLB Diagnostic Kit .
Repeated the same methodology for MRSA (Methicillin Resistant S.aureus) and fungal pathogens.
February 2012 – September 2012
- Massachusetts General Hospital, Blower Laboratory, Boston, MA
Research Assistant (Department of Molecular Biology)
Isolate various genes of interest using RT -PCR and priming techniques for gene silencing studies
Clone and transfect the genes in E.coli and BL21 cells for screening and Protein expression
Perform Western Blot to analyze levels of protein expression at different time points and extract the proteins
Use the extracted proteins to separate raised antibodies from the chicken serum
February 2012 – May 2012
- Antimicrobial Discovery Centre (Dr. Kim Lewis Lab), Northeastern University, Boston, MA
Research Assistant (Unculturable Group)
Grew and screened microbes from samples of sewage water treatment plant
Plated pure cultures using dependent colonies
Regrew the colonies in close proximity under varying conditions and develop an optimized repr oducible pathway in
anaerobic conditions
January 2010 – May 2010
- Gandhi Krishi Vignan Kendra, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, India
Lab assistant (Department of Agricultural Microbiology)
Isolated and characterized various Microbes using silver staining and Gram Staining techniques
Selected Suitable medias, Substrates (Cow dung, Whey, Sewage water), Mediators, Nutrients & Electrodes and Constructed
various types of Microbial Fuel Cells (Organic Bagasse cell, Aquatic Sedimentation cell, Algal Hydrogen Cell) which
successfully generated workable volume of electricity
PUBLICATION
January 2013 – April 2013
- Chromosome Cancer Gene Project, Analytical Biochemistry, Northeastern University
The aim of this project is to map cancer -associated genes on each chromosome by integrating information from various web
sites (primarily Sanger, Waldman and GeneCards, and Cancerindex) and construct a complete list of the degrees of cancer
association of the oncogenes.
Publication is pending.
