BIG CAT ENERGY CORPORATION, Upton, WY
Chief Operations Officer, 2006-Present
Manage and oversee the coal bed methane operational activities within the
company, including geologic evaluations of coal deposits, geophysical log
interpretation, well completion methods, perforating, pump testing, gas
desorption data, mapping, and water disposal methods. Ensure compliance
with SEC, state, and federal regulations, and resolve any regulatory
issues. Perform financial and economic analysis to maintain efficient and
cost effective operations. Coordinate meetings between staff and
regulators, vendors, and Big Cat Energy Board of Directors. Compose press
releases to communicate investor relations issues and correspond with SEC
auditors and attorneys. Create geologic, financial, and budgetary reports
to the CEO and Board of Directors, and review all SEC "K" and "Q" filings.
Key Accomplishments:
. Invented, designed, and patented the proprietary technology and
processes on which the company was founded.
. Utilized innovative technology to transition the drilling process from
the oversight of the NPDES to the UIC, which resulted in a reduction
of permit wait times from 18 months to 4 weeks and realizes extensive
cost, resource, and time savings.
. Demonstrated the technology to an Australian company who would realize
significant cost reduction for water disposal, from $3.00 to $1.20 per
barrel.
CONSULTING GEOLOGIST, Gillette, WY
Consultant, 2003-2005
Consulted with companies performing exploration drilling and completion for
coal bed methane wells in the Wyoming Powder River Basin. Prepared geologic
prospect reports, geologic maps, sample descriptions, geophysical log
interpretation, core analysis, and gas desorption calculations and well
optimization. Oversaw and advised on drilling activities, perforations,
pump testing, and water disposal options. Aided companies with
environmental permitting and regulatory issues related to regional coal bed
methane development.
RAYMOND MURPHY, Page 2
CONSULTING GEOLOGIST, continued
Key Accomplishments:
. Provided insight into superior methods of well completions to optimize
gas production and assisted in troubleshooting drilling problems as
they arose on drilling locations.
. Entrusted to overhaul companies' operations to develop more efficient
and productive methods, leading significant changes in technology and
processes.
WILLIAMS PRODUCTION COMPANY, Gillette, WY
Regulatory Specialist/Geohydrologist/Manager, 1999-2002
Managed the comprehensive operations of the extraction and disposal of
byproduct water from coal bed methane. Reviewed new technologies for water
management, well production optimization, coordination of permits, and
discharge facilities prior to well start-up and sales, and adopted
technologies that contributed to improved streamlining and reduced
operation time. Managed junior staff, engineers, contractors, and
consultants for facilities, as well as contracts, construction, and OM&R.
Oversaw projects totaling several million dollars per year and requiring
high level efficacies and innovative methodologies. Protected and
represented the company's interests, and defended their actions using
industry expertise and significant knowledge of regulations. Collaborated
with design engineers and construction staff on pipeline issues related to
produced water needs and requirements. Directed computer modeling projects
of coal reservoirs to assist in estimating expected water rates for
pipeline carrying capacities and facility design based on decline curves
and local knowledge of the project areas.
Key Accomplishments:
. Pioneered a method to produce water within state and federal
regulations while benefitting landowners and reducing OPEX,
transitioning the process from the oversight of NPDES to an
agricultural endeavor.
. Adapted existing irrigation technologies to provide an environmentally
sound water disposal method that resulted in cost savings for the
company and significant land use improvements, increasing landowners'
land capacity by up to 9 times its previous capacity.
WYOMING STATE ENGINEERS OFFICE, Cheyenne, WY
Deputy State Hydrologist, 1987-1999
Managed the state's groundwater resources, including water use, quality,
quantity, and availability. Promulgated rules for the oil and gas industry
regarding well completion practices and perfecting water rights of produced
water. Wrote and published geotechnical papers and reports. Managed
projects, including site evaluation and computer modeling, using MODFLO,
CAD, GIS, GPS, and a large variety of computer software. Developed a
working knowledge of RCRA, CERCLA, NPDES, UIC, and SDWA as they pertain to
the U.S. regulations. Served as the State Engineer's expert in drilling
activities.
Key Accomplishments:
. Created an innovative groundwater monitoring system for the state of
Wyoming.
. Developed in-depth insight into the regulatory aspects of drilling, as
well as the rationale of such regulations, translating into the unique
ability to adapt new technologies and processes to meet regulations.
Previous positions include Senior Geologist at Calgary Petroleum,
Instructor of Geology at Laramie County Community College, Exploration
Geologist at Simons Associates, and Well Site Geologist/Mud Logger at Took
Engineering, all of which provided extensive experience in conventional
drilling operations, including site evaluation, prospect generation, and
completions.
