Post held Sr. Construction Manager

Duties: Coordination with all Lead Sector Contractors and

Consultants,

Supervision of Staff and Subcontractors. Monitoring progress and

cost. Project Management, Chairing the Progress & Technical

Coordination Meetings, Settling of EOT claims, Finalization of

Contractors Final Account and variations, Liaison with Client from

inception up to execution, Coordination of Client’s requirement with

design/drawing development

Works executed:

Managing the construction of a 60,000 refrigeration tons District

Cooling Plant, World Largest Station, for Jumeirah Beach Residence,

the largest in the world, including 11 kilometers of steel pre insulated

reticulation piping (42”) and around 50 energy transfer stations.

Reticulation line for District Cooling Plant on Jumeirah International

Staff Accommodations Project, approximately 10 kilometers of pre

insulated steel pipe. Preparation for Haddeed District cooling project

in Jubail, Saudi Arabia. Managing a design build 49,000 ton District

Cooling plants on the Palm Jumeirah Crown Trunk. Upgrading of two

District Cooling plants Discovery Gardens. Three Plants totaling

90,000 R.T for the expansion of Discovery Gardens. Dubai Sports City

PCCP Reticulation Network design and tender documents, Central

Cooling Plant design and tender documents, DAFZA Chiller Plant

modification design and supervision, and working on various other

District Cooling projects either in design or in construction. Four

cooling plants at the Palm Crescent totaling 120,000 R.T.

international Air Port. Full refurbishment of the historic Cleopatra

Building down Town Doha. Various other Commercial and residential

Compound in the Al- Rayyan area of Doha, and the armory building in

Al- Siliya Army Depot.

Drake & Scull to set world record on JBR cooling job

Logistics

A major issue for the Drake and Scull team has been coordination and

logistics.

The contractor is installing its 1.5 m diameter district cooling network

right through the middle of the biggest building site in Dubai, and

there are a lot of other contractors that need to be kept on side.

The job of ensuring this all goes according to plan falls to Nadim Al-

Jaouni - a veteran of the US Army Corps of Engineers and

construction manager on the project.

It is his task to ensure Drake and Scull’s operations on the site

interface correctly with the ongoing building and civil work.

He also liaises with all the lead contractors and consultants to ensure

the job runs smoothly.

And that is a difficult logistical balancing act made even more

problematic by a shortage of suitably qualified labor.
