Mechanical Engineer Technician (Sergeant) – Ground Support 2006 – 2012

Responsible for the supervisory and hands-on management of all major and minor projects pertaining to GSE
diagnoses, repairs, servicing and maintenance for the entire base, as well as non-destructive testing, as required for
regular operation of the Eurofighter Typhoon T1, F2, T3 and FGR4, the Harrier GR9 and GR9A, and the Tornado
GR4, as well as WWII era Spitfires, Hurricanes, Lancaster Bombers, Dakotas and Chipmunks.
• Lead a team of NDT technicians. Performed NDT inspections on aircraft and related components. Developed
appropriate plan for inspections, evaluated inspection results and made recommendations for any necessary repairs
and further inspections.
• Managed and oversaw the base’s GSE workshop and workforce, including daily maintenance, service and
administration. Developed and implemented procedures to improve department and workforce efficiency.
• Supervised, mentored, assigned and prioritized manpower, both civilian and non-civilian, to complete
servicing, rectification and modification work on powered and non-powered GSE, lifting tackle and staging.
Compiled monthly performance evaluation reports on personnel and provided constructive performance feedback.
• Requisitioned and ensured stock availability for GSE jobs outstanding. Coordinated with outside engineering
agencies for the procurement of necessary parts, spares and equipment.
• Ensured clients received a high level of service and that all standards were met within set time schedules and
pursuant to health and safety regulations. Provided clients with an advisory service on the suitability and adequacy
of equipment as well as assistance with investigations into and reporting of mechanical accidents and incidents.
