Materials Maintenance System & Conversion of COBOL 68/74 to VS-COBOL

UNIVAC COSMO MMS is a Materials Management System used by United Airlines

to maintain the 1.3 Billion Dollars worth of inventory of spares required

for Six Hundred Aircraft. It controls the inventory of spares at five base

stations and seventy lines stations, identifies serviceable parts based on

cost of parts and maintenance cost. It also handles the distribution of

spares across base and line station, The schedule of maintenance of

Aircraft is planned in AMIS system. UNIVAC COSMO MMS system receives the

input from AMIS system. All the inventory information is stored in a

DMS1100 database, Flat files and some Tip Files on UNIVAC Mainframes

running under OS/2200. UNIVAC COSMO MMS has around 2000 jobs in batch

system and it uses COBOL, ECL's. On-line systems use TIP screens and

DMS1100 database.
