and developing a tool to make the process more efficient
• Redesigned the design folder structure for the diesel engine engineering group and implemented the structure
into Design Record Book
• Created a backup protection system for the Tier 4 locomotive engine that will protect it from damage if the
engine control unit fails. This involved creating the harnesses, installing new sensors on the second engine,
building an alarm panel, working with the wiremen to install the panel, and doing the final tests on the system
to ensure that it functions properly.

• Developed concept for a system that delivers environmentally neutral, full-scale, closed-system algae
production using photobioreactors at municipal wastewater treatment facilities
• Investigated market opportunities for both producers and potential users of algae and algae-related products
in order to understand the market and its needs
• Refined concept to satisfy needs of both municipalities and algae consumers
• Evaluated technical and economic feasibility of reactor implementation at wastewater treatment facilities
• Constructed financial analysis of potential business model
