TRANSFERABLE SKILLS
I am hard working and trustworthy and try my best in every circumstance. I am reliable and able to work as
part of a team, can cooperate well and always meet deadlines. I am very helpful and willing to assist in every
way. I am a very friendly person and I can get on well with other people and work well in a group. For
example, throughout secondary school, I was on the school’s football team. I was captain in year 7 and 8
and was placed in many roles of responsibility. I also participated in the ‘Make Your Mark’ challenge where a
number of people were placed into groups and had to design a new and innovate product that would appeal
to young people. Taking part in the challenge helped me to develop many enterprising skills such as
teamwork, problem solving, risk taking, determination and assisted me in developing a can-do attitude.
I also have good ICT skills and able to use computers. I am confident in using many ICT packages like
Microsoft word etc.
I can speak Spanish at an intermediate level. I used to live in Mallorca as a child and I have studied Spanish
at GCSE level and achieved an A*.
WORK EXPERIENCE
I worked with Greenwich Council as part of my work experience. I worked in the Adult and Community
Learning department. I was involved in several projects including creating PowerPoint presentations on how
to use several electronic items involving cameras, laptops, projectors and camcorders. These PowerPoint
presentations are currently being used in many colleges in the borough to help with the adult and community
learning departments. I also compared notes on different borough websites and these notes were passed to
the ICT workers to help improve the Greenwich council website. I enjoyed very much the environment I was
in and the people I worked with. They gave me numerous responsibilities and opportunities and treated me
as if I was a permanent colleague working alongside them.
I have volunteered in a Cancer Research charity shop. I was involved in the Duke of Edinburgh Award at my
school and decided to help at Cancer Research for my volunteering section of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
I learned many skills from my time there. My jobs included shelf staking, stock taking, tagging and pricing
items and placing items on the shop floor. I also have a bit of experience working with tills.
I have worked at Primark in Bromley for a year and five months. At Primark I completed many tasks. I worked
in recovery and returns where I walked around the shop ensuring that the shop is in good condition. I also
tidied away clothes whilst making areas of the shop neat, tidy and more presentable. I often returned items
from the changing rooms to the shop floor. I have been trained as a cashier but have not had the opportunity
to become fully experienced as yet.
I also currently work at Wetherspoon’s in Greenwich. I have been working here for just over a year and have
been involved in several different jobs within this time. My main role at Wetherspoon’s is to provide excellent
customer service. Customer service is a huge part of my job as I am constantly faced with new customers
every day. I enjoy dealing with customers and helping them to ensure they have the best experience at the
Wetherspoon’s pub. My job at Wetherspoon’s involves serving food to customers, ensuring the pub is clean
and well-presented and also providing excellent customer service.
HOBBIES AND INTERESTS
I am a football fan, and I also do occasionally enjoy playing football and other sports. I go to Charlton
Athletics home games as they are my local team and I enjoy the atmosphere of being at a football match.
I am interested in working and earning money.
I also really like going out shopping or for a meal with friends.
I enjoy travelling and going on holiday. I am interested in working in the travel and tourism industry.
I enjoy practical tasks. I get involved in many activities in and out of school/college and I learn from new
experiences.
ACHIEVEMENTS
I was a Prefect at my secondary school. I was involved in research that was carried out, I gave assemblies
and presentations to students and staff with school updates and news, I worked in many teams to complete
tasks, help staff which involved me staying behind after school to help with different events taking place and
set an example the rest of the school.
In year 7 and 8 I was part of the student council committee at my school. Within the committee, I was
selected to interview several candidates for a new head teacher. This was a big achievement for me as I was
selected to represent my school and was trusted to be a part of such a great opportunity.
I can speak Spanish at an intermediate level. I studied Spanish at GCSE and gained the highest exam
grade, an A*. Living in Mallorca has had a massive influence on me and because of this; I have been
determined to achieve a high grade at A level.
