OBJECTIVE
As an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer, obtaining a full-time position where I can apply my technical, analytical, and
interpersonal skills in the design, development and analysis of mechanical systems and structures.
EDUCATION
Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering May 2013
University of Florida, Gainesville, FL
GPA: 3.93/4.00
Specialization: Solid Mechanics, Design and Manufacturing
Relevant Courses: Advanced Mechanics of Solids, Failure of Materials in Mechanical Design, Fundamental and Advanced FEA,
Fracture Mechanics, Computational Methods for Design & Manufacturing (SolidWorks & Pro/E), Aerospace Structural Composites
Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering June 2008
Army Institute of Technology, University of Pune, India
GPA: First Class with Distinction
EXPERIENCE
Design Engineer October 2008 - June 2011
Tata Consultancy Services, Bangalore, India
Client: Lockheed Martin and Tata Advanced Systems (Joint Venture)
Duration: October 2010 - June 2011
Description: 3D modeling of assembly tools (jigs and fixtures) for wing and empennage as per client supplied drawings and creating
new drawings for C130J "Super Hercules" military transport aircraft.
Supported the senior management in analyzing the client proposal documentation, and created project plan reports.
Studied the manufacturing drawings and produced estimation reports for material requirements and purchased parts.
Modeled the tools in CATIA V5 according to the drawings and updated specifications given by the client.
Generated new manufacturing drawings consistent with Indian standards for local manufacture of the tools.
Client: Alenia Aeronautica
Duration: October 2008 - October 2010
Description: Concept to detail level tool design (drill jigs, assembly fixtures and scaffolds) incorporating DFM principles for the
manufacture of the cockpit of C27J "Spartan" military transport aircraft.
Analyzed the aircraft structural components and prepared concept tool designs according to the defined project guidelines.
Modeled the parts and assemblies for the jigs, fixtures and scaffolds in CATIA V5, and performed tolerance stack-up analysis.
Produced drawings for manufacturing using ISO GD&T standards, with comprehensive BOMs and fabrication instructions.
Performed quality checks for the mod els and drawings as per the client’s quality compliance checklist.
Conducted periodic design presentations to the client, and incorporated all change requests in the models and drawings .
Created technical design documentations for the tools to show the loading, assembly, and unloading sequence of the aircraft parts.
GRADUATE RESEARCH & PROJECTS
May 2012 – May 2013
A response surface based method for efficient estimation of elastic properties of textile composites
Created 3D models of composite unit cells in SolidWorks based on 57 combinations of fiber and matrix properties and geometries.
Scripted MATLAB codes to automate the application of material properties and boundary conditions, and write Abaqus input file s.
Generated response surfaces by performing FEA in Abaqus and using SAM (selective averaging method - an analytical technique).
Produced a correction response surface using FEA/SAM results ratio, and predicted elastic properties of known textile composites.
Non-linear finite element analysis using Abaqus (elasto-plastic and hyperelastic analyses) September 2012 - November 2012
Simulated and analyzed the deep drawing process of a thin metal sheet, including springback effect, for different binder forces.
Analyzed the given gasket design for hydrostatic pressure and gap closure, then proposed and analyzed an improved design.
