Engineering Manager; SI Controls was the industrial controls division of the Star
Industries group of companies. They represented a number of International
instrumentation manufacturers in Australia including Moore Products, Cashco,
Badotherm, Meriam, Devar, EMCO and Rototherm. Some of the successful projects
included process controls for BHP Petroleum on three FPSO’s (Jabiru, Challis and
Skua) in the Timor Sea and the Cossack Venture FPSO for Woodside Petroleum.

Duties included Process Control, PLC, panel design, project management, coordination
with mechanical team, supervision of equipment installation and commissioning,
leading a team including two technical officers, draftsperson, electrical foreman and
leading hand with four electrical tradesmen and two assistants. In-charge of automation
upgrades for two concurrent projects, Laminar Leaf Plant & G2 leaf expansion plant.

Numerous projects and breakdown support over 4 years. Projects completed
included configuration, installation and commissioning of process controllers, PLC’s
and instrumentation on CO2 Plant, CO2 Vaporisers, Fermentation Tank Farm,
Carbonators, Wort Coolers, De-aerated Water Plant, refrigeration plant, air
compressors, upgrade automatic controls for Boilers and commission Tosdic DCS and
instrumentation on Low Alcohol Plant including Beckman GLC.

Responsible for instrumentation and electrical controls on all continuous and batch
process plants, pipelines and laboratories throughout the state of NSW, Australia.
Duties required installation and commissioning of instrumentation and controls on
continuous and batch process plants, pipelines, hazardous gas areas (including H2 &
LPG), medical gas plant, special gas and chemical mixture analysis equipment.
