Geology Instrumentation Skills
• Piezometer: Measured hydraulic conductivity in shallow groundwater wells at Gribble Gap, Long Branch, and Cullowhee Creek around Western Carolina University campus for research in Hydrogeology class.
• Sorptimeter and Mini-disc: Calculated sorptivity and infiltration rates of soils around Western Carolina University campus.
• GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar): Used in Historical Geology class for a stratigraphic layering lab.
• Cross Section Analysis of Streams: Research done in Geomorphology, Methods in Geology labs, and Hydrogeology research measuring with Stadia rods calculating depth, width, and slope of stream channels. Calculated velocity and took data on sediment sizes of the stream bed.
