Job Description
A CNC Laser Programmer creates and optimizes programs for CNC laser cutting machines using CAD/CAM software to interpret blueprints, set cutting paths, and select material settings. This role involves troubleshooting production issues, ensuring quality control, and collaborating with engineers and machinists to meet project specifications. The programmer is responsible for programming the machine, not necessarily operating it, which includes optimizing efficiency and ensuring safety compliance.
Responsibilities
Use CAD/CAM software to create, modify, and test programs for CNC laser machines based on blueprints and design models.
Optimize cutting paths to improve efficiency, minimize material waste, and ensure the highest possible quality for finished parts.
Select appropriate laser settings, tools, and other parameters for each job.
Perform quality control checks on parts during and after production runs to ensure they meet specifications.
Identify and resolve technical challenges or issues that arise during the manufacturing process.
Work closely with engineers, production staff, and machinists to address design or technical challenges and meet project goals.
Monitor the health of the machines and may be involved in basic maintenance and repair.
Essential Skills
Proficiency with CAD/CAM software
Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and design models
Understanding of G-code and other CNC programming languages
Knowledge of different materials and their optimal cutting parameters
Familiarity with safety standards and procedures
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Experience with CNC laser cutting processes
Ability to write, edit, and troubleshoot G-code and M-code
Understanding of machine and tooling knowledge
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience with sheet metal and other relevant materials
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail

The work environment includes a spacious, clean, and organized facility. Employees are required to wear standard PPE such as steel-toed boots, eye protection, and hearing protection. The company is expanding its presence in the region with a new facility, creating 29 new full-time positions. The facility offers 51,000 square feet of warehousing and 2,000 square feet of offices.

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
