Position Overview
We are seeking an ambitious, forward-thinking in-house accountantsomeone with an Enrolled Agent credential (EA) and/or actively pursuing a CPA. This role blends hands-on tax preparation, tax planning, and oversight of bookkeeping operations, with the expectation that you will help expand and modernize these services.

What Youll Do
Tax Preparation & Tax Planning (Primary Focus)
Prepare individual, small business, trust/estate, and retirement-related tax returns (1040, Schedule C, Schedule F, 1065/1120 preferred but not required).
Lead proactive tax planning for clientsstrategies for retirement, investments, small business, and real-estate related matters.
Identify ways to reduce tax liability using within-the-law optimization strategies.
Research tax issues and propose well-supported solutions.
Maintain compliance with IRS requirements and monitor tax law changes.
Bookkeeping Oversight & Expansion
Oversee outsourced bookkeeping team and perform monthly review for accuracy and compliance.
Ensure bookkeeping ties to tax planning (Schedule C, Schedule F, entity returns, depreciation, etc.).
Implement and standardize bookkeeping workflows in QuickBooks and TaxDome.
Help expand our bookkeeping service line and develop scalable processes.
Process Modernization & Technology Integration
Youll work with our existing stack and help modernize it:
Drake Tax
TaxDome (workflows, organizers, client communication, automations)
Gruntworx
TaxGPT & AI tools
QuickBooks
Responsibilities include:
Enhancing efficiency through automation
Developing standardized procedures for tax prep & bookkeeping
Improving the integration of the tax practice with our advisory team
Contributing ideas for innovation, AI implementation, and workflow design
Cross-Department Collaboration
Work directly with financial advisors to synchronize planning and tax strategies.
Collaborate with operations to ensure a smooth client onboarding and tax-season workflow.
Participate in year-round tax advisory meetings with clients.
What Were Looking For
Required Qualifications
Enrolled Agent (EA), or CPA candidate.
6mo3 years of professional experience in accounting, taxation, or bookkeeping.
Strong understanding of basic tax principles and interest in tax planning.
Experience with QuickBooks or similar bookkeeping software.
Ability to manage deadlines, stay organized, and produce accurate work.
Preferred Skills
Experience preparing tax returns in Drake or another major tax software.
Familiarity with TaxDome or willingness to learn quickly.
Interest or experience in AI-driven tools (e.g., Gruntworx, TaxGPT).
Prior exposure to small business or personal financial planning concepts.
Strong communication and client-facing skills.
