Base Salary $127,436 - $151,328 + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
The Heat and Health Research Centre in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at The University of Sydney, is seeking a Senior Research Fellow to help drive the centres growth into a globally recognised leader in heat and health research. The candidate will play a critical role in accelerating the translation of the Heat and Health Research Centre’s research outputs into tangible societal, policy, and commercial outcomes. This position will lead initiatives that strengthen partnerships within academia, government, industry, and community organisations, identify opportunities for commercialisation and end-user collaboration, and embed impact across the research life cycle.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
Develop and manage research impact and commercialisation strategies
Build research collaborations and engage in translational research that delivers impact for industry, policy, practice or the community.
Contribute to competitive research grant applications to support impactful research outcomes.
Secure research funding and/or partnership income
Contribute to policy submissions, practice guidelines, or impact assessments
Coordinate cross-disciplinary national and international collaborations
Provide informal mentoring to junior academics and supervise postgraduate research students or projects or initiatives where appropriate.
Contributes to a positive, collaborative workplace culture, upholding professional conduct and standards in all interactions with colleagues and stakeholders.
Undertake other ad hoc duties and contribute to projects or programs of work appropriate to the classification level as required.
About you
PhD in a relevant discipline such as public health, health policy, innovation management, environmental science, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience in research translation, commercialisation, or industry engagement within a university or research environment.
Proven ability to build and manage partnerships with government, industry, and community stakeholders.
Strong understanding of pathways to impact, including knowledge translation, policy engagement, and/or intellectual property processes.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex research for non-academic audiences.
Have familiarity with heat-health or environmental health research landscape.
