Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced NIST Security Controls Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our organization's information systems comply with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) security controls framework. This role involves assessing, implementing, and maintaining security controls to protect our systems and data from cyber threats.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of our organization's information systems to identify security vulnerabilities and risks.

• Develop and implement security controls based on the NIST Special Publication 800-53 framework.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security controls into system development lifecycle processes.

• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of security controls to ensure ongoing compliance with NIST standards.

• Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on security best practices and compliance requirements.

• Participate in security incident response activities and assist in remediation efforts as needed.

• Stay up-to-date on emerging threats and industry trends in cybersecurity to proactively identify potential risks.

Must Have Skills:

• Extensive knowledge of NIST Special Publication 800-53 and other relevant cybersecurity frameworks.

• Experience conducting security assessments and audits in a complex IT environment.

• Strong understanding of network security, encryption technologies, and access controls.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.

• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.

Degrees, certifications/training:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certification preferred.
