Addison Group is partnering with a respected healthcare system in Alabama to help grow their Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) team. This is a hybrid role supporting one of several acute care hospitals in the region. Our client places strong emphasis on provider collaboration, documentation integrity, and professional development.
Job Description:
As a CDI Specialist, you will play a key role in reviewing medical records to ensure accurate and complete clinical documentation. This role is instrumental in reflecting the true severity of illness, supporting quality patient care, and enhancing hospital reimbursement.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct concurrent inpatient documentation reviews
Submit compliant and well-structured physician queries when needed
Collaborate with providers to clarify or enhance documentation
Meet production standards of 25 reviews per day (125 per week), with a 40% average query rate
Work onsite 2x per week to support physician engagement and education
Utilize CDI tools including Iodine, 3M 360, Interact, Epic, and Cerner
Participate in team meetings and semi-annual CDI assessments
Report directly to the CDI Manager Qualifications:
RN (BSN), foreign-trained MD, or related clinical background
1-2 years of inpatient CDI experience
Active CCDS, CDIP, or CCS preferred
Proficiency with EMR systems and CDI platforms
Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced hospital setting
Strong communication and critical thinking skills Additional Details:

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM or 7:00 AM-4:00 PM
Locations: One CDI assigned per facility (Alabaster, Talladega, or Birmingham)
No vaccine requirement (exemptions accepted)
