Join a dynamic healthcare team in the Pacific Northwest region as a Patient Access Specialist I, where your role is vital in delivering compassionate and efficient service to patients throughout their care journey. This part-time, per diem position focuses on ensuring accurate patient scheduling, registration, and financial processing with a warm and professional approach.

Job Summary

As a Patient Access Specialist I, you will be responsible for registering patients accurately, verifying insurance and benefits, and managing point-of-service collections. Your role includes conducting registration interviews, handling multi-line phone systems, responding to patient inquiries, and supporting smooth administrative workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Schedule and register patients using healthcare software, ensuring data accuracy including patient identification and insurance verification.

Obtain necessary referrals and pre-authorizations for services.

Conduct patient interviews prior to initial visits.

Collect patient financial responsibilities such as co-pays and co-insurances, manage cash drawer operations, and generate receipts.

Operate multi-line phone systems to route and respond to calls professionally and promptly.

Address patient questions and requests while maintaining comfort, dignity, and confidentiality.

Complete daily assignments, manage mail processing, and participate in workflow improvement projects. Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred.

Healthcare experience is advantageous.

Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare revenue cycle is preferred. Licenses and Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is encouraged. Skills and Abilities

Proficiency in insurance verification through various online and telephone systems.

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and common office equipment.

Effective written and verbal communication skills with sensitivity to patients' emotional and social needs.

Discretion in handling confidential information and maintaining accurate documentation.

Basic math skills and understanding of healthcare revenue functions.

Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and professional workspace.

Team-oriented mindset with collaborative engagement.

Physical Requirements

Includes occasional lifting and carrying of items up to 35 lbs, standing, walking, bending, and stooping. Vision, hearing, and speech within normal range with or without corrective devices.

Work Environment

This role operates within a supportive healthcare setting in the Pacific Northwest, offering a balance of privacy and access to urban amenities. The position involves 8-hour shifts within a 40-hour workweek under a service contract.
