Central Sterile Technician Job Summary:

The Central Sterile Technician is responsible for the cleaning, decontamination, sterilization, and distribution of medical instruments and supplies used throughout our healthcare facility. You will ensure that all instruments are processed according to established safety standards and manufacturer guidelines. This position is essential to the smooth operation of surgical and medical services by maintaining a clean and sterile environment for patient care.

Central Sterile Technician Job Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent

Certification as a Central Service Technician from a nationally recognized organization required or obtained within one year of hire

Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS) certification required Central Sterile Technician Job Description

Maintains composure and professionalism under pressure, effectively managing stress and workload demands without displaying negative behaviors.

Demonstrates expertise in identifying all specialty instruments, supplies, and equipment specific to surgical services.

Monitors the use of supplies in the Central Sterile area, adjusting par levels as necessary to ensure efficiency and availability.

Performs decontamination, cleaning, reprocessing, and sterilizing duties in accordance with established standards and manufacturers' guidelines.

Ensures a clean and organized work area at all times.

Identifies, inspects, orders, receives, processes, stores, disassembles, cleans, decontaminates, assembles, sterilizes, and distributes sterile instruments.

Properly loads and unloads sterilized items to ensure safe handling and organization.
