About this position:
We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and culturally sensitive individual to join our care team in an orthodox Jewish group home supporting residents with developmental disabilities. This role emphasizes both homemaking responsibilities and religious support aligned with orthodox traditions and values. The homemaker will help create a nurturing, kosher, and spiritually attentive environment that promotes dignity and well-being.
This is a part-time position and this person will work alongside the home manager and report directly to the District Manager for the home.
Responsibilities:
Maintain a clean and orderly kosher home environment in alignment with Halachic standards, provide appropriate signage and protocol for those in the space.
Prepare meals and snacks under strict kashrut guidelines, including supervision of food preparation when needed
Provide resources for Shabbat and Yom Tov setup: candle lighting, food preparation, table arrangements, and cleanup
Coordinate household needs such as laundry, supply restocking, and minor errands
Support staff in household in day-to-day activities and running of home
Ensure religious items and spaces (e.g., menorahs, challah, mezuzahs) are properly maintained and used respectfully
Assist residents in observing daily Jewish practices - such as brachos, tefillah, netilat yadayim - as appropriate to their abilities
Facilitate participation in Shabbat and Yom Tov observances
Facilitate participation in Jarc community events and broader Jewish communal events
Help prepare for and celebrate Jewish holidays in ways that are accessible and engaging for persons served
Liaise with rabbinical leadership and Jewish community resources as needed Required Skills:
Familiarity with Hasidic customs and halacha (e.g., dress code, speech guidelines, gender roles in observance)
Experience in caregiving, special needs, or household management preferred
Social Work degree or similar is a plus
Patience, respect for individual differences, and strong interpersonal skills
Jarc Direct Support Provider certification: Recipient Rights, CPR/First Aid, Docebo training, etc.
Ability to work hours approx. Between 4:00pm - 8:00pm Sun-Thursday; preferred. Additional hours may be available or flexible on occasion, Shabbat and/or holidays
