Job Responsibilities
Francis Marion University invites applications from people who want to be part of a team which is directly responsible for the safety of the FMU community. FMU Police Officers patrol campus and the surrounding community to make them safer, work with students/faculty/staff/visitors to solve problems, conduct educational and community meetings, mediate disputes, investigate traffic collisions, investigate crimes, make arrests, and provide general police services.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Requirements: A high school diploma and certification by the Law Enforcement Training Council in accordance with § 23-23-40 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina 1976.
Preferred Qualifications
FM Preferences: High school graduate. The applicant should have an aspiration for personal growth, professional development, and the desire to be a member of a team that maintains a safe campus community. Required to participate and successfully complete the SC Criminal Justice Academy training if not currently a Class 1 police officer.
Required to receive and maintain a SLED Group 1 Constable Commission.
Must be 21 years of age or older, have a satisfactory credit report, a valid SC driver's license, and pass an extensive background investigation which includes a social media review.
