Position Summary
The Manufacturing Production Supervisor is primarily responsible for employee leadership, work center scheduling, job processing, and other projects as assigned.
Position Responsibilities
Employee Leadership and Management
Provide positive leadership for your employees - lead by example
Constantly provide your employees with positive developmental feedback & training
Empower your employees & hold them accountable:
Delegate authority for decision-making and maintain accountability; and
Instill company values in your employees and continue to coach them so that their independent decisions are consistent with expected behavior and results.
Assure proper employee timekeeping:
Monitor, correct, and approve timecard data at the end of every working business day (clock in and out, lunch in and out); and
Manage department overtime, keeping YTD overtime within target parameters
Assure that you comply with all policies & procedures and work rules & instructions
Assure employees are compliant with and are held accountable against policies, procedures, shop rules, work instructions, and evaluation metrics.
Assist with mid-term evaluations and annual evaluations as defined in the current performance evaluation system.
Develop and document corrective action plans for poor-performing employees in coordination with the Plant Manager/Director of Operations and Human Resources Manager.
Cross-train employees to obtain maximum scheduling flexibility. Manage Department Processes
Assure open work orders are prioritized and worked according to required due dates or demand.
Work in conjunction with production control personnel to ensure timely delivery.
Coordinate the status of work orders daily with production control.
Maintain even flow through the shop and balance load where possible.
Work with other Supervisors to effectively share resources during peak demand times.
Work with department employees to continually find ways to improve efficiency & effectiveness numbers:
Efficiencies meet or exceed company standards; and
Provide written/documented feedback and direction for employees not meeting goals; and
Provide daily written feedback to Engineering on any wrong or inaccurate routers and or work orders.
Work with department employees to continually find ways to implement cost reductions:
Set up time reductions & cycle time reductions; and
Identify and implement opportunities to save and/or substitute material; and
Standardize and simplify both processes and products; and
Eliminate repair, rework & scrap through process improvement; and
Determine and document when work-in-process material doesn't meet specifications or doesn't work (i.e., capture Turnback's) and implement and document corrective action steps (i.e., capture Mistake Proofs).
Act as backup for and/or assist department employees as needed. Office Support
Perform general office work as needed.
Assist Engineering with design evaluations.
Act as project manager for special projects, at the request of the Plant Manager/Director of Operations or the Vice President of Operations, which may include writing department procedures, updating quality assurance systems, and other projects.

Education & Experience
High school equivalency is required. BA/BS Degree in Management/Operations or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
Minimum of 5 years experience in manufacturing operations. Skill Competencies
Working knowledge of shop practices and procedures.
Working knowledge of inventory control, order entry, and related duties.
Must be detail-oriented and pay close attention to accuracy.
Knowledge of OSHA standards CFR1911.
Able to analyze information gathered to identify potential problems or discrepancies.
Able to balance multiple responsibilities to multiple internal customers and prioritize them to meet required deadlines.
Skilled at solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists. Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
