General Summary

The Department of Statistics at Western Michigan University seeks candidates for a tenure-track, 1.0 FTE, academic year, Assistant/Associate Professor position beginning August 15, 2026 on its main campus in Kalamazoo, MI. This position teaching position has additional research and service responsibilities.

Major Duties

Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics and data science.

Advising students.

Conducting research.

Publishing in peer-reviewed journals.

Writing and submitting grant proposals, and service.

A Ph.D. degree in Statistics, Applied Statistics or Data Science by December 31, 2026, from an accredited institution.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Potential for teaching excellence.

Potential to develop and maintain an outstanding research program in statistics or data science related methodology. Desired Qualifications

Ability to teach a variety of statistics classes at various levels.

Expertise in statistical methodology.

Teaching experience as a sole instructor of record.
